St. Catherine University and the Center for Intercultural Development invites applications for a Coordinator for Multicultural Student Success & Retention.

The Coordinator for Multicultural Student Success & Retention will create and implement programs and services that assist with the successful matriculation, retention, and degree attainment of students holding intersecting marginalized identities (e.g. low-income, first generation, BIPOC, LGBTQIA , and more). This position also creates and oversees opportunities that help all students gain and develop culturally-competent leadership skills and self-efficacy. This position also implements research-based initiatives that create an inclusive environment for all students, faculty and staff, and alumnae - especially those of color, and from marginalized groups.

Responsibilities:
  • Recruit, plan, and co-implement the Summer Institute which is a residential summer college immersion program for high school students to build community, reduce fear, and learn about the college experience.
  • Participate in recruitment sessions/info fairs/events for prospective students within the College for Women, College for Adults, and/or Graduate Students.
  • Outreach to students of color through supportive advising, advocacy, resources and communication serving as an advisor to student organizations.
  • Collaboratively manage marketing & communication functions (e.g. social media, department newsletters, etc.) as it relates to various enrollment types (e.g. College for Women, College for Adults, Graduate Students) and/or providing day-to-day oversight to the front office operations (managing inventory, etc.) of the Center for Intercultural Development that includes supervising student employees.
  • Provide campus resources to students.
  • Work with students one-on-one to support, problem solve and refer to encourage continuation of their degree attainment.
  • Provide identity-based support through student advising, and/or additional outreach initiatives. This includes, but is not limited to DACA and undocumented student support.
  • Introduce students and the St. Kate's community to cultural and justice related programs and resources here and in the Cities including scholarships and internships.
  • Develop, plan, and implement programmatic initiatives for and with students.
  • Collaborate with campus partners to co-sponsor events, including signature events.
  • Provide support and student group advising to identity-based student organizations.
  • Assist, support, plan, and implement department Pillar Initiatives, including, Identity-Based Programmatic Initiatives, Speaker Series, Twin Cities Immersion Experiences, Social Justice Leadership Retreat, Celebrations of Achievement, Living Learning Community Advising, and additional academic and belonging programming.
  • Represent the University at college fairs and community functions.
  • Serve as outreach person within the college working with high schools, local organizations and local communities of color.
  • Participate in Student Affairs and Center for Intercultural Development, establish links with Admissions, Residence Life, and other campus partners.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in psychology, sociology or a related field.
  • Demonstrated commitment to diversity and social justice.
  • Experience working with diverse student populations.
  • Demonstrated student programming and/or group facilitation skills.
  • Experience with project management.





Preferred Qualifications:
  • Previous experience with higher education.
  • Experience with and knowledge of educational issues of multicultural students, first-generation students, and immigrant and refugee communities.
