SCC is seeking an enthusiastic, student-focused Part-Time Career Coach to join the Career Services team. This role will support students and alumni in their career development by offering personalized guidance on career planning, job search strategies, and professional development. Under the supervision of the Career Services Manager, the Part-Time Career Coach will help students explore career pathways, develop effective resumes and cover letters, prepare for interviews, and build confidence in their professional skills.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Provide one-on-one career coaching sessions for students and alumni, including career assessments and guidance on career exploration.
- Assist students in developing job search strategies, including resume and cover letter writing, networking, and utilizing online job search platforms.
- Stay informed on job market trends and incorporate relevant industry knowledge into coaching sessions.
- Track and document student interactions, outcomes, and success stories in the career services database. Provide students with guidance on appropriate career resources, including those offered by the Excelerator Department.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree in general education; preferred master's degree in general education.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a demonstrated ability to effectively support a diverse student population.
- Knowledge of job market trends, and effective job search techniques.
- Proficiency with MS Office Suite and familiarity with career assessment tools and online career services platforms.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Master's degree in general education.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Part-time role requiring a flexible schedule, including occasional evenings to accommodate student availability.
- This role is based on the SCC campus and will work closely with students and staff within the Excelerator Department.
