Preventative Maintenance Technician
Non-union, at-will position
POSITION SUMMARY: The Preventative Maintenance Technician will be responsible for general maintenance and repairs to all St. Clair County RESA buildings, equipment, and grounds. They will ensure that all buildings and grounds are safe, attractive, clean, and efficient places in which to learn and work. The position reports directly to the Supervisor of Maintenance and Custodians.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- College coursework preferred
- Demonstrate and maintain a good driving record
- Demonstrate knowledge & proficiency with Microsoft and Google computer applications, as well as good verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to effectively access and utilize technology systems that support the operations
- Effective analytical and problem-solving skills
- Must be physically able to bend, stoop, climb, reach, work in high places, move items, and lift 75-100 lbs.
- Knowledge and experience working with a variety of maintenance equipment and tools including the ability to operate hi-lo equipment, tractor, scissor lift and plow truck. (Willing to obtain the proper certifications)
- Ability to read, and comprehend/interpret, and work from directions, manuals, plans, blueprints and sketches.
- Demonstrate initiative, efficiency, and timely follow through on responsibilities.
- Work independently, achieve and maintain job productivity

The most qualified candidate will possess skills, or interest & ambition, in the following trade areas: Carpentry, Boiler operation, Heating/Cooling Operation & Repair, Plumbing, Electrical, doors & hardware.
(Note: The relative importance of any skill area shall be determined by the needs of the RESA. Must be able to acquire and demonstrate an adequate skill level in each of the skill areas to the extent that the RESA provides adequate and appropriate training and /or instruction)
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Perform preventative maintenance, minor repairs and assist in major repairs of HVAC systems, Boiler and Geothermal systems, and kitchen equipment.
- Responsible for assisting with various building repairs as appropriate based on qualifications/certifications
- Perform light carpentry, locksmith, painting, ceiling repair, furniture/desk repair, etc.
- Performs assigned site work to include repair of road system, lighting, sidewalks, grounds, snow plowing, salting, etc.
- Responsible for general maintenance and repairs throughout all buildings.
- Provide timely response to work orders and maintain accurate records of status - completion
- Move, relocate, and reposition furniture and supplies within and among the buildings
- Collaborate and cooperate with contracted service providers and suppliers
- Complete required District online compliance training
- Must be neat and clean in appearance and properly attired.
- Adapt to a flexible work schedule as required; days, afternoons & very seldom weekends.
- Self-motivated and able to work with minimal supervision.
- Able to effectively communicate in writing and verbally with coworkers and the general public.
- Use sound judgment in making emergency decisions that are in the best interest of the RESA.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.

RELATED JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Maintain adequate levels of supplies and materials in inventory for building use.
- Responsible for grounds immediately around the buildings, such as snow removal from walkways, picking up debris, etc.
- Accept and verify deliveries.
- Meet timelines as outlined and take pride in the quality of work performed.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
EMPLOYMENT DATE: Pending Board approval and successful completion of drug screen and background checks.
SCHEDULE: Monday through Friday; 12 months per year; Work hours may vary through the year.
A typical week will be 40.0 hours
SALARY & FRINGES: $ 45,000-50,000 commensurate with experience and education; 60-day probation. Non-union, Service Personnel benefit package. Overtime pay is available at the discretion of the Supervisor
