What are the responsibilities and job description for the Biomedical Specialist position at St. Claire HealthCare?
The Biomedical Specialist performs routine preventive maintenance inspections, electrical safety inspections, and troubleshooting on medical and ancillary equipment.
Duties/Responsibilities:
• Possesses knowledge in electricity/electronics and circuit diagram interpretation.
• Possesses knowledge of medical terminology, human anatomy, physiology, chemistry, and physics.
• Follows manufacturer instructions to perform equipment inspections and or troubleshooting.
• Enters work orders, order parts, and updates equipment database.
• Effectively uses multi-meters, oscilloscopes, electrical safety analyzers, and most common medical testers and simulators.
• Operates and troubleshoots computer and network issues.
• Assesses clinical situations regarding equipment failure, makes rapid, sound decisions, and gives directions.
• Troubleshoots complex circuits and has detailed knowledge of specific equipment or equipment types.
• Demonstrates leadership and independence in a senior-level role through advice and education of other technicians.
Education:
Associate degree in Biomedical Technology or equivalent training/experience
Experience:
Two years of experience or specialty training in Radiology, Laboratory, or other complex high-tech equipment required
Licensure/Certification:
Certified Biomedical Equipment Technician (CBET), Certified Laboratory Equipment Specialist (CLES), and/or Certification for Radiological Equipment Specialist (CRES) preferred
