What are the responsibilities and job description for the Summer Academy Coord position at St John's College?
The Summer Academy Coordinators will work to provide support in all aspects of planning and running the 2024 Summer Academy. There are two open positions to be filled, and the coordinators will be required to work collaboratively in providing leadership, support, and safety for the Summer Academy RA’s and students. Summer Academy Coordinators will each work 20-25 hours/week during the five weeks preceding the Summer Academy sessions and during the one week following. They will work full-time, flexible hours during the Summer Academy sessions, including evenings and weekends. Employment begins on Wednesday, May 21 and ends on Monday, July 21. Coordinators will be compensated at $15/hr. for hourly work, and they will receive a total of $2,950 for the weeks of the Summer Academy sessions (June 22-July 12). On-campus housing will be provided beginning the end of the semester and ending July 24. Employment is contingent upon a successful background investigation.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:
•Provide leadership for RAs/students and exemplify the virtues of the St. John’s community
•Answer queries from Summer Academy students and parents
•Ensure parents’ completion of necessary forms
•Assign roommates and RA pairs/groups
•Compile curricula and registration materials
•Coordinate group transportation for minors
•Purchase supplies and food for activities and events
•Supervise Summer Academy students and large-scale Summer Academy events
•Execute appropriate planning, set up, and tear down of Summer Academy activities and events
•Serve as a resource for RAs
•Attend all RA meetings and events including registration, orientation, field trips, the cook-out, the waltz party, and farewell brunches
•Facilitate consistent communication among students, RAs, and other staff regarding emergencies, conflicts, and other pertinent information
•Assist with follow-up and resource compilation/organization following Summer Academy
•Other tasks as assigned
