St. Johns County Board of County Commissioners is seeking a Human Resources professional with full cycle recruitment experience to join our Talent Acquisition Team. Our Human Resources Department is headquartered in in beautiful St. Augustine, Florida. St. Johns County residents enjoy a healthy quality of life with many perks including one of the top rated public school systems in the State of Florida, miles of beach shoreline, peaceful estuary scenery of the St. Johns River, long-established agriculture and equestrian scene, and the nation’s oldest city, historic St. Augustine. The Talent Acquisition team is responsible for partnering with department-level management to anticipate and meet the hiring needs of the organization. St Johns County Board of County Commissioners is a large organization with almost 1,500 employees who work in a large variety of fields. The newly selected Talent Acquisition Specialist will participate in interviewing and hiring both local and out of state top talent in a variety of industries to include: Water UtilityPublic WorksFire RescueGrowth ManagementCounty Attorney’s OfficeBuilding/Construction ServicesAnimal ControlEmergency Management Health and Human ServicesLibrary ServicesParks and Recreation… and so many more! The primary goal of the team is to deliver the best talent to each department by leveraging social media and other marketing platforms. The Talent Acquisition team prides itself in innovation and driving state-of-the-art techniques and processes for recruiting and onboarding operations. This is a fast paced hiring environment. The person selected for this role is expected handle multiple recruitments assigned weekly which can vary from entry level positions to management roles. This is an on-site position. Working hours are typical Monday through Friday from 8:00am to 5:00pm. Minimal local travel may be needed to represent the organization at career fairs or to attend training activities.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
The ideal Talent Acquisition Specialist candidate must work well in a team environment and be able to exercise good judgment and critical thinking to guide and assist management partners thorough the recruitment and hiring process. Some of the responsibilities include but are not limited to: Assists with the implementation and administration of human resource programs such as employment, talent management, compensation, and training. Collaborates with hiring managers to assess staffing needs and develop recruitment strategies.Manages county-wide recruitment activities in accordance with federal, state, and local employment laws, regulations, and county policies.Advertise job openings through various platforms, such as posting on job boards, social media, attending job fairs, and connecting with universities/trade schools.Communicates verbally and in writing with internal and external job seekers, as well as department stakeholders regarding inquiries about open positions, application status, training, and employment verifications.Conducts initial screening to evaluate candidate qualifications and coordinates interviews between the candidate and the hiring team. Ensures required background checks, references, drug and/or physical screenings are completed.Assists in performing research and analysis in preparation for a variety of human resource related initiatives.Manages tasks simultaneously with the ability and willingness to remain flexible with departmental changes or requests and state or federal law changes.Processes personnel action and conducts audits.Demonstrates continuous effort to improve operations, decrease turnaround times, streamline work processes, and work cooperatively and jointly to provide quality seamless customer service.Maintains a full-time presence on the job.Performs other duties as assigned.
