What are the responsibilities and job description for the Crisis Intervention Specialist position at St. Louis Circuit Attorney's Office?
The St. Louis Circuit Attorney's Office is seeking a compassionate and dedicated individual to assist victims with the aftermath of violent crimes and act as a liaison between victims and the criminal justice system. This Victim Services Caseworker will be one of the first points of contact for victims and will provided crisis intervention support, community referrals and criminal justice education. This is an opportunity to utilize advocacy skills within the criminal justice system under a well-established prosecutor-based victim services unit.
Applicants for this position must be available from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm on weekends. Must be available some holidays from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm. Flexibility regarding remainder of schedule Monday through Friday.
Responsibilities:
-Inform victims of the their rights within the criminal justice system
-Occasionally escort victims to court
-Provide appropriate community referrals
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date case notes and documentation
- Collaborate with other professionals, such as attorneys and social workers, to provide comprehensive support to clients
-Provide emotional support and crisis intervention, as needed
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in social work, psychology, criminal justice, behavioral science or similar field
-Effective communication skills
- Must be able to work as part of a team
-Experience and demonstrated comfort working with those in grief and trauma
-Prior advocacy experience is a plus
