What are the responsibilities and job description for the Municipal Court Office Manager position at St. Louis County?

The St. Louis Municipal Court is a limited jurisdiction court that hears cases on alleged violations of County Ordinances in unincorporated St. Louis County and contracted municipalities within St. Louis County. Court operations are located throughout the county having satellite courts in the Central, North and South regions of the county with the Central location in Clayton being the center of court operations. Employment with the court may require occasional evening hours while court is in session at the satellite courts.

The typical starting salary range is between $24.83 - $29.80 hourly depending on the candidate's qualifications and experience as well as budgetary considerations.   • Maintain calendars for the Court’s Director and Deputy Director
  • Organizing departmental events
  • Accounts Payables entry into MUNIS
  • Accounts Receivables entry into MUNIS
  • Run departmental reports as required by law, rule, or court leadership
  • Generate and facilitate departmental supply orders 
  • Maintain acceptable forms inventory
  • Maintenance and Distribution of forms and supplies
  • Maintenance of the Court’s established court calendar
  • Entry and Maintenance of court dates into LE Web for available court dates
  • Maintain equipment inventory levels (computers, laptops, scanners, etc.)
  • Make travel plans for departmental travel pursuant to the County’s Travel Policy
  • Store and maintain interdepartmental personnel files
  • Performing clerical and data entry work
  • Fill in at the satellite locations as needed
  • Assist in onboarding new employees
  • Research, assist in procurement, and maintain grant applications and awards

  • Other duties as assigned by court leadership


Five years' progressively responsible office experience; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. 

Court experience is required. SELECTION AND APPOINTMENT:  A selection committee will evaluate the qualifications of each applicant which will include recentness and appropriateness of the applicant's education and experience, answers to the supplemental questions, results of employment references investigated and any other appropriate information available.
 
 The selection committee will admit to the interview only those persons who possess the most job related qualifications and may establish admittance criteria beyond the minimum qualifications stated above.  The interview will comprise 100% of the applicant's earned grade.  A candidate must earn a qualifying grade of 70 or more on the interview to be eligible for appointment.  After initial interviews with the selected candidates are conducted, an email will be sent to the address on file with instructions on how to complete and submit a Conviction Questionnaire.  Candidates have 3 days to complete the required questionnaire.  
 
 The five top ranking candidates, based on the final grade, will be certified to the Department Director/Appointing Authority who will make the final decision.
 
 All applicants conditionally offered a merit position will be required to submit to urinalysis to screen for illegal drug use prior to appointment.  Screening will be performed by a reputable clinical laboratory.  The cost of screening will be covered by the County.
