Reports To: Senior Annual Campaign Officer

Job Summary: The Development Officer is a new, key position within the Jewish Federation of St. Paul, responsible for managing and growing relationships with major, mid-level, and planned/legacy gift donors. This role also involves spearheading the development of a Next Generation Giving program to engage younger donors and sustain their involvement with the Federation. The Development Officer will work closely with senior leadership, including the CEO, to drive growth in the Federation’s endowment and fundraising efforts.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

Major, Mid, and Planned Gift Solicitation

  • Oversee all stages of donor engagement, including cultivation, solicitation, closure, and stewardship for a portfolio of major, mid-level, and planned gift donors.
  • Build and maintain strong, lasting relationships with current and potential donors, guiding them through the charitable gift planning process.
  • Collaborate with the Senior Annual Campaign Officer to develop and execute a strategic work plan to meet individual and organizational fundraising goals.
  • Make both independent and joint contacts with donors to present planned and blended gift strategies, providing advice and solutions in alignment with their philanthropic goals.

Next Generation Giving

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive Next Generation Giving program aimed at attracting and retaining donors under the age of 45.
  • Create initiatives to keep young donors and their families engaged with the Federation for the long term

Other

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and the donor management system to track and manage relationships.
  • Oversee the budget for assigned fundraising programs and initiatives.
  • Prepare and present campaign reports to Federation leadership and the Board of Directors.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Minimum of 4 years of professional fundraising experience, with a strong understanding of industry best practices and trends.
  • Demonstrated academic achievement and philanthropic accreditation is highly preferred

  • Exceptional project management skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively in a team-oriented environment.
  • Familiarity with the St. Paul Jewish community is a plus

Workplace Expectations:

  • Active participation in staff and committee meetings.
  • Regular travel is required to meet donors or attend local meetings.
  • Availability to attend evening and occasional weekend meetings.
  • Occasional national or global travel, likely bi-annually.
  • Access to reliable personal transportation.
  • Ability to handle occasional physical tasks, including lifting, carrying, and walking.

Salary and Benefits:

The salary range for this position is $76,000-$85,000 per year. The St. Paul Jewish Federation offers a competitive benefit package including:
