Position Description
As the primary academic officer for the School, the Director of Curriculum and Instruction oversees curriculum, pedagogy and professional development. This candidate will work closely and serve as a peer with the upper and middle school division heads as instructional leaders and collaborate closely with department chairs to align curriculum and pedagogy for grades 5 through 12.
Primary Responsibilities
- Oversight of curriculum and instruction for students in grades 5-12
- Build upon the school’s traditions and enhance and build mission driven academic programs
- Lead department chairs meetings
- Oversee and plan professional development for SPSG teaching faculty
- Partner with division heads, head of school, human resources and department chairs on candidate review and hiring, including teacher assignments and new employee orientations
- Team with academic leaders at St. Paul’s Pre and Lower School and St. Paul’s School for Boys to promote a collaborative environment for co-educational learning opportunities and programming and to ensure a smooth transition between divisions
- Oversee the evaluation process for all teachers in conjunction with division heads and department chairs, including focus on Folio goal setting system
- Serve as SPSG chapter secretary for Cum Laude Society
- Serve as SPSG’s academic representative with Online School for Girls and other school based external partnerships
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will be a respectful and supportive leader who is flexible, industrious and possesses a passion for learning, as well as a commitment to academic excellence and bringing out the best in each educator. They will promote a team-oriented climate that harnesses individual talents and follows best practices and current brain-based research. Candidates must have a masters degree in education related field and have a minimum of ten years of established academic leadership experience, preferably at independent schools, including experience with curriculum development and design, professional presentations, teacher coaching, and evaluation. They must display a strong work ethic, ethical judgment, a sense of humor, and commitment to the diversity, community and belonging of the SPSG community. They must be positive, engaging, collaborative, well-organized, flexible, adaptive, industrious, creative, and willing to make difficult decisions. As member of the administrative team, this position will report to the Head of School.

The St. Paul’s Schools has a compensation scale based on direct years of experience and degree held. For this opportunity, our salary range is $95,000 to $105,000 annually. Candidates with additional experience or qualifications may be offered a salary outside of the range shown.
