The St. Paul’s Schools is pleased to announce an opening for a full-time head school nurse to start as soon as possible. This is a 12-month position.

This position will provide year-round health services to all students and employees who visit the health suite. The individual in this role promotes health education, ensures a safe and healthy school environment, and manages health-related needs during the academic year and summer camp programs.
Primary Responsibilities
School Year Duties
o Rises to meet emerging challenges and opportunities through effective collaboration, intentional technological integrations, strong communication skills and adaptability
o Provide first aid, illness assessment, and emergency care for students and employees.
o Administer prescribed medications, including lunch and afternoon medications, and perform medical treatments as required.
o Manage health records, including immunization compliance and documentation.
o Coordinates with the technology department to send out yearly medical forms through our Magnus system to the entire student body. Review those forms to determine complete health information and acquire information, orders and medications as needed.
o Partner with Chief Operating Officer and nursing team related to nursing budget, planning and spending.
o Participate in health-related presentations or workshops, including pre-trip preparation such as medication administration, epi-pen training and coordination of all trip medication bags.
o Serve as part of the student services team(s) including learning services, counselors and divisional leadership as it relates to student wellbeing.
o Work closely with athletic trainers on student injury concerns and rehabilitation plans.
o Partner with security team on emergency care and crisis management plans.
o Work with teachers, counselors, and administrators to address health-related barriers to learning.
o Partner with other nurses on campus as it relates to shared students, joint family care and transition years from preschool to lower, 4th to 5th and 8th to 9th grade students.
o Coordinate health coverage at campus events including Commencements, Lessons and Carols, etc.
o In partnership with the COO, serve as a liaison between the school and School Physician and healthcare providers.
Summer Camp Responsibilities
o Oversee the health and wellness of summer camp participants and employees.
o Writes the summer health plan and creates health training presentation for all summer camp employees on an annual basis.
o Partner with Director of Auxiliary Services on process for all camper and camp staff medical forms and health evaluations.
o Develop individualized care plans for campers with special medical needs.
o Administer medications and provide routine care during camp hours.
o Address injuries, illnesses, and health emergencies promptly.
o Monitor environmental conditions to prevent heat-related illnesses or injuries.
o Partner with Director of Auxiliary Services in summer camp inspection preparation and actual inspection with state of Maryland.
o Order summer camp health supplies (separate from school year supplies)
o Attend any staff orientations or tours with vendors for introductions and reminder of processes
Key Qualifications
o Minimum five years nursing experience with school setting experience preferred.
o Must be a registered nurse with a BSN degree.
o Must have an active Maryland license and current certification in CPR/AED training.
o Must be an empathetic caregiver, excellent communicator and team player.
o Demonstrates the ability to work independently and establishes and maintains cooperative and effective working relationships with others both internally and externally
o Must maintain strict confidentiality at all times.

The St. Paul’s Schools has a compensation scale based on direct years of nursing experience and degree held. For this opportunity, our salary range is $55,000 to $75,000 annually. Candidates with additional experience or qualifications may be offered a salary outside of the range shown.
