Primary Function:
The Director of Retail Operations is responsible for the overall success of four retail Thrift Stores. The retail stores have over 80 employees and over a 1,000 volunteers. Accountability for the performance of all store operations, merchandising, sales performance, logistics, budgets and compliance as well as the leadership and management of all store staff and volunteers.
Required Knowledge, Skill and Abilities:
- 5 years managing retail merchandising responsibilities
- 3 years of managing a staff of 5
- Managed P&L, budgets, fiscal operations
- Experience with IT systems, including POS
- Experience with leading and motivating volunteers
- Strong, clear communication skills (written, verbal and presentation)
- Bachelor's degree a plus
- Experience with thrift stores a plus
- Managed multiple stores a plus
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Analyzing trends and monthly sales; initiating corrective actions throughout the year
- Formulates pricing policies by reviewing merchandising activities; analyzing operating and financial statements for profitability ratios
- Examine financial statements, sales, activity reports to measure efficiency and goal achievement
- Manage daily operations to ensure St Vincent de Paul Southwest Idaho standards are being met at all times
- Ensure that all performance standards are maintained by making sure that all company policies and procedures are followed, and immediate action is taken to address deficiencies
- Direct the creation of positive work environments within the retail locations, warehouse, and trucks
- Consistently maintain all stores as clean, safe, respectful and pleasant environments in which employees work effectively and customers enjoy shopping
- Effectively communicate and work with Executive Director and Human Resources to establish and implement departmental policies, goals, objectives, and best practices
- Ensure that accounting policies, procedures, company controls providing for the proper security of all personnel, facilities, and company property, which includes equipment, assets, inventory and cash are in place and are being followed
- Create procedures and strategies to improve the overall performance of all retail locations
- Maintains staff at all store locations by recruiting, interviewing and selecting while coordinating with Human Resources for onboarding
- Maintains store staff job results and morale by coaching, counseling, disciplining, encouraging and recognizing employees at appropriate times; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results in collaboration with the Executive Director and Human Resources
- Ensure the warehouse and bailing reaches monthly goals and aligns with regulations
- Oversight of Store Managers for good utilization of volunteers: training, retention, engagement, and satisfaction
- Ensure adherence to safety procedures, manuals, and protocols. Coordinate with Human Resources, Store Managers and Facilities Maintenance Specialist for monthly Safety meetings
- Work in collaboration with the Executive Director and the Marketing team on fundraising efforts for the entire organization. Function as part of the leadership team of SVdP and creatively involve yourself with leaders of the other departments for the overall success of the organization. Coordinate annual store employee events such as summer picnics as determined.

Pay: $63,000.00 - $73,000.00 per year
