Job Summary
The Accounting Specialist may include plan, direct, manage, and oversee the activities and operations of the Office, and provide highly responsible and multifaceted administrative support to the Administrator. Responsible for all records pertaining to Offices, assists the Administrator in making decisions including personnel, open records, and records management and acts as the city election administrator. Will include payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, tasks relative to billing, reconciliation of bank statements, data entry of mail payments, and deposits through manual, digital, online banking, and other miscellaneous financial responsibilities. Perform other job-related duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Responsibilities
- Provide administrative support
- Proper posting of meeting notices, legal notices, public hearings and announcements on website and social media
- Maintains official city records and oversees records management and retention program
- Maintains employee personnel files
- Manage payroll, including input of employee’s time, tracking employee sick, vacation and comp time calculations, and usage, and issuance of paychecks
- Effectuate payment of bills and expenses as manager of accounts payable
- Prepare and submit employee/employer quarterly payroll reports to the IRS
- Perform budgeting duties, such as assisting in fiscal year budget preparation.
- And other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- 3 to 5 years’ experience
- Previous Accounting experience
- Previous Customer Service experience
- Knowledge of account analysis and budgeting processes
- Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration across teams
