Position Overview:
The Senior Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Specialist will oversee EHS compliance and program management for a level 1 site. This role provides regulatory expertise to ensure the facility adheres to relevant environmental, health, and safety regulations. The Specialist will lead EHS initiatives, develop strategies for continuous improvement, and ensure the site meets all regulatory and company requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Analyze data to identify improvement opportunities within the defined value stream and implement action plans.
- Lead, guide, and support the deployment and sustainability of the site s compliance programs and EHS management systems (ISO, OHSAS, VPP).
- Develop processes to identify, evaluate, and control workplace hazards to comply with local, state, and federal regulations.
- Lead EHS investigations, conduct root cause analysis, and develop corrective actions for near misses, injuries/illnesses, and environmental incidents.
- Oversee regulatory recordkeeping, reporting, and case management within the defined value stream.
- Track and provide training for team members on EHS policies, procedures, and regulatory standards.
- Manage and document Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for safety and environmental performance in the defined value stream.
- Ensure compliance with air, water, and waste regulations, including DOT, within the facility s value streams.
- Ensure alignment with Southwire s EHS policies and procedures.
- Serve as the Emergency Response Coordinator, overseeing emergency services and contractors, with on-call duties 24/7.
Additional Qualifications:
- 9 years of experience in industrial health, safety, and environmental management
- Working knowledge of safety regulations/standards (OSHA, NFPA, ANSI, NEC, etc.)
- Professional certification is preferred
- Flexibility to work non-traditional hours and shifts
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with exceptional interpersonal skills
