GENERAL STATEMENT:
Summer School Success 2025 will offer intensive small group work in reading, writing and math for students who have been identified as needing extended school year services (recommended by the PPT process). The Head Teacher(s) for ESY will assist the Assistant Director of Special Education and the Teaching and Learning Department with planning, staffing, and implementing the Summer School Program. This position is available pending operating budget and grant funding approval.
Note: Preference will be given to those who hold an 092 certification.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Commitment to work all 4 weeks or 6 weeks (based on level/location) of Summer School.
- Work with the Director for Special Education, the Teaching and Learning Department and other Head Teachers to ensure effective implementation of Summer School.
- Develop and distribute Summer School information.
- Complete class assignments.
- Assist in the selection and assignment of staff.
- Coordinate the use of the selected site(s) with the Principal(s).
- Use Google to utilize electronic mail (e-mail) to transmit all staff attendance on a weekly basis to the District Summer School Office as well as other information as requested.
- Implement the Dayforce attendance system on-site(s) for all staff.
- Cooperatively work with Summer School and community resource groups.
- Attend all professional development activities provided by the Central Office.
- Attend Central Office meetings.
- Collect student data to structure summer programs and classes.
- Collect and disseminate copies of the students' IEP's.
- Coordinate transportation needs.
- Assist in selecting, ordering and preparing resources used in the summer school program at the assigned sites.
- Provide professional development ot summer school staff prior to the start of summer school
- Work with students, parents and teachers to create a culture of high expectations and excellence, including: regular attendance, punctuality, and academic support.
- Monitor and oversee the day-to-day operations including transportation issues of the Summer School Program at the assigned sites.
- Work to ensure that differentiated instruction is occurring in each classroom.
- Complete a final report of the Summer School Special Education Program according to the guidelines of the Summer School Office.
- Knowledge of and/or demonstrate the ability to learn and implement Operating Systems (i.e. Windows); Office suites (i.e. Microsoft Office, Google Docs); Presentation Software (i.e. PowerPoint, Keynote); Spreadsheets (i.e. Excel, Google Spreadsheets); Communication and Collaboration tools (i.e. Skype); Accounting Software (i.e. QuickBooks); Student Information Systems (i.e. Naviance, Power School, CT SEDS); or any other technology deemed relevant for this position.
- Perform other duties as requested by the Director/Assistant Director(s) of Special Education
- Current Connecticut Educator Certificate in Special Education or Special Services.
- 092 certificate preferred.
- Currently employed by the Stamford Public Schools.
- Successful teaching experience.
- Demonstrated experience in curriculum and program planning and development as well as curriculum/assessment development.
- Familiarity with national, state and local curriculum standards and framework.
- Demonstrated quality leadership ability through past performance.
- Service as a cooperating or mentor teacher preferred.
- Demonstrated leadership ability in the coordination and implementation of extended school year programs preferred.
- Demonstrated capacity to work well with others.
- Demonstrated ability to coordinate and organize programs and required reports.
- Superior communication skills (oral and written).
- Evidence of organizational ability and ability to successfully complete projects and gather data.

- 6-week commitment
- Monday, June 23th through Friday, August 1, 2025 (29 days; tentative dates subject to change)

- Planning/Staff Development- June 26th and June 27th
- Up to 30 hours of work prior to summer school
- Up to 15 hours of work following the end of summer school
