We are seeking a skilled Construction Project Accountant to manage budgets, track costs, ensure compliance, and provide accurate financial reporting to support seamless project operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop, monitor, and manage project budgets in collaboration with project managers.
- Accurately record, track, and report project-related expenses, ensuring proper cost allocation.
- Prepare and issue progress billings and invoices to clients in compliance with contract terms, while following up on payments to maintain cash flow.
- Review and approve subcontractor and vendor invoices, ensuring accuracy and adherence to payment terms.
- Generate and analyze financial reports, including profit and loss statements, to provide actionable insights on project performance.
- Ensure compliance with legal, regulatory, and contractual requirements, including managing lien waivers and preparing documentation for audits.
- Review and track changes to contracts and manage change orders, ensuring financial accuracy and alignment with project scope.
- Identify and mitigate potential financial risks through detailed forecasting and variance analysis.
- Maintain effective communication with project teams, vendors, and clients to ensure alignment on financial objectives and deliverables.
- Utilize construction-specific accounting software to streamline financial processes and reporting.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
- Proven experience in construction or project-based accounting.
- Proficiency with accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage, or equivalent, and strong Excel skills.
- Exceptional attention to detail and ability to analyze financial data with accuracy.
- Strong organizational and communication skills to collaborate effectively with stakeholders.
- Familiarity with construction processes, cost codes, and industry-standard billing practices (e.g., AIA forms).
