What are the responsibilities and job description for the Vice President of Engineering position at Standard Technologies?
We are seeking an experienced and dedicated VP of Engineering to lead our teams at our three locations. The VP of Engineering will be responsible for ensuring all engineering projects, initiatives, and processes are in conformity with the organization’s established policies and objectives.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Review and understand each company’s engineering process from quoting to production in order to provide the necessary guidance to each team. This includes details of customer specifications, pricing and quoting.
- Responsible for training and development of engineering teams.
- Oversees the preparation and final approval of project plans.
- Conducts or acquires cost analysis for development projects; prepares or delegates preparation of schedule of project completion dates.
- Ensures that projects are completed within budget and economically.
- Establishes and implements the strategic direction of the companies engineering and development initiatives.
- Collaborates with the company's executive leadership to develop and meet organizational goals while supplying expertise and guidance on projects, operations, and systems.
- Identifies, recommends, and implements innovative technologies and systems to improve organizational processes and decision-making.
- Ensures that departmental decisions such as staffing, development, organization, hardware acquisitions, and facilities are in line with the organization's business plan and vision.
- Establishes, communicates, and implements engineering and development policies, practices, standards, and security measures to ensure effective and consistent operations.
- Establish and maintain communication with production departments for effective problem-solving techniques.
- Establishes and administers the department’s budget.
- Maintains knowledge of emerging technologies and trends in engineering and development related to the organization industry.
- Responsible for understanding company’s ERP systems, SW, AutoCAD libraries and file structures.

Qualifications and Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering required, MBA preferred.
- 5-7 years of proven experience as a VP of Engineering, or similar leadership role.
- Previous new product development responsibility, oversight, team management, processes, etc., required.
- Knowledge of AutoCAD, SolidWorks and Autodesk inventor preferred.
- Experience in metal fabrication preferred.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Must be able to travel as necessary.
- Must be a passionate leader that will provide direction to the team with a lead-by-example approach.
- Must be an empathetic leader and possess the ability and desire to make a large impact on the industry.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $133,064.00 - $143,692.00 per year
