DEFINITION
Under the direction of the site administrator, to serve as an educational leader; to assist the administrator with the responsibilities of curriculum, staff development, discipline, parent education, facilities maintenance, and pupil, staff and program evaluation; and to do other related work as required.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES : Personnel in this job classification may perform any combination of the essential duties shown below. - Assists the principal in the administration of the school.
- Assists in the development, implementation, evaluation, and revisions of the school plan, and procedures for health, safety, discipline, conduct, and attendance.
- Assists with the supervision of student council, clubs, and organizations.
- Assists with supervision of the student body's financial operations.
- Prepares and submits reports, in a timely manner.
- Supervises and evaluates the performance of all assigned personnel in accordance with established guidelines and procedures.
- Assists in the development of curriculum, master schedule, instructional practices, and appraises pupil progress.
- Attends and participates in meetings, such as, parents' club, advisory and curriculum committees, Superintendent's Council, and Governing Board meetings.
- Acts in an advisory capacity to the administrator in all matters pertaining to building, curricula, and personnel.
- Administers school discipline in accordance with district policy and state regulations.
- Performs as administrator when he / she is away from the school.
QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge of :
Legal mandates, policies, and regulations pertaining to curriculum, personnel, facilities, and child welfare; and
Socio-economic and cultural background differences of the school community.
Ability to :
Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with others.

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION
Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge and skill is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the required knowledge and skill would be :
EDUCATION : A Bachelor of Arts degree from an accredited institution is required.
CREDENTIAL REQUIREMENT : A valid teaching credential and an administrative services credential issued by the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing.
EXPERIENCE : A minimum of five years of certificated experience in public or private schools is required. Additional teaching experience, administrative, or supervisorial experience is preferred.
LICENSE REQUIREMENT : Possession of a valid California Motor Vehicle Operator's License and proof of adequate insurance on your vehicle.
CONDITION OF EMPLOYMENT : Insurability by the district's insurance liability carrier. Employment is contingent upon fingerprint and background clearance, and proof of a negative tuberculosis test result.
