Job Title - Construction Inspector
Location - Harvard, Illinois
Job Type – Onsite
Stanley Consultants is seeking to hire a Construction Inspector to work in Harvard, IL. This position will perform on-site daily observation of the contractor’s construction work and compare the work product to the project’s approved plans and specifications.
What You Will Be Doing:
- Performs on site-daily observation of the contractor's construction work and compares the work product to the project's approved plans and specifications
- Prepares reports documenting progress of the Contractor’s work and the payment thereof
- Physically performs field-required tests
- Assures the quality of the contractor’s work
- Maintains daily logs of inspections and reviews any discrepancies with the proper parties
- Communicates all issues with the proper project team members expeditiously
- In the course of business, the member will be required to operate a company vehicle. A mandatory prerequisite to operating a company vehicle is maintaining an acceptable driving record
Required Qualifications:
- Associates degree in construction management program with a minimum of 5 years of construction related experience OR no degree and a minimum of 8 years of construction related experience in a field applicable to the work assignment
- The ideal candidate will have construction experience within the State of Illinois and familiarity with Illinois DOT construction services policies and procedures
- Experience with IDOT policies and procedures for highway construction field work is required
- Experience with Illinois Tollway and City of Chicago construction work is preferred
- Must possess IDOT construction documentation certificate
- Additional materials certifications (PCC Level I, II, III; HMA Level I, II, III; S-33, etc.) are preferred
- This job requires good communication and documentation skills (MS Word, Internet) and an individual capable of performing with minimal supervision
- A general knowledge of construction techniques and an ability to read plans and specifications is mandatory
Physical Demands: Includes extensive manual labor, including the ability to lift and transport 50 lbs. Requires the ability to work at and easily maneuver around construction sites in various weather conditions. Must be able to climb ladders, scaffolding and trenches. Fear of heights or confined spaces could create a significant hardship.
