Position Summary

The Workforce Specialist will be responsible for processing payments received by UI Contributions and benefit overpayments, open and process all UI Contributions mail. The position will also be responsible for processing quarterly 209B's. This position will be responsible for assisting with payment adjustments for the Payment Processing Unit. The position will provide backup assistance to the imaging/client contact unit. This position may audit employers' financial records to determine compliance with unemployment insurance laws. This position is governed by state and federal laws and agency policy .

Education And Professional Work Experience

Minimum Qualifications

The formal education equivalent of a high school diploma or its equivalent; plus, two years of experience in customer service, program eligibility, claims adjudication, or a related field.

Preferred Qualification

Proficiency in all Microsoft Office products is preferred, especially Microsoft Excel and Word. 1-2 years of supervisory experience. Proficiency in basic accounting and adding and subtraction. The candidate must effectivel y communicate orall y and in writing.

  • Knowl edge of audit standards and procedures.
  • Ability to interpret and app l y state l aws and regu l ations.
  • Ability to anal yze financial records and identify and resolve discrepancies .
  • Ability to document examination findings and prepare reports.
  • Ability to convey and exchange oral and written information of a specialized nature.

Job Responsibilities And Expected Results

  • Assist with processing payments for Tax/ BPC
  • Keys assigned weekl y quotas of 209B ' s into the Tax 21 System by weekl y deadline.
  • Assists Payment Processing unit duri n g all four designated rush periods with batching, bl ock stamping, opening mail and any other duties needed to meet guidelines set by DOL.
  • Assist with processing payment adjustments
  • Assist in Webex system as needed on scheduled days provided by management/supervisory staff.
  • Assist with Contributions imaging functions including prepping/scanning and data entry.
  • Assist in other units as a Unit Lead, / Assisting POM with supervisory duties
  • Research financial data related to payment processing, ensuring accuracy and consistency.
  • Research payment information and verify payment details and reconcil e any discrepancies to maintain accurate financial records.
  • Adhere to all regulatory requirements related to payment processing and data entry.
  • Work collaborativel y to achieve common goals.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by supervisory/managerial staff to support the team and organization.

Date: 07/01/2009 STATE OF ARKANSAS JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY The Department of Workforce Services (DWS) Workforce Specialist is responsible for career orientation and planning, assessment, and enrollment of clients seeking eligibility for DWS programs and related services. This position is governed by state and federal laws and agency/institution policy.

Functions

Interviews clients to determine eligibility for DWS programs and services by reviewing clients' forms, asking questions concerning clients' work history, and providing information on programs and services. Enrolls clients in DWS programs after reviewing clients' profile information and comparing profile to criteria for program eligibility to determine eligibility. Contacts employers/clients by telephone or correspondence to discuss job orders, potential job applicants, and issues concerning clients' eligibility for benefits or program services. Performs job placement activities by researching files and selecting position openings compatible with clients' employment profile, schedules interviews for clients, and informs clients of date, time, and location of interview. Administers aptitude and job skills assessments to job applicants by monitoring assessments, scoring and recording results and scheduling assessments. Accesses computer terminal to enter, check, and retrieve information concerning clients' information. Counsels clients by explaining program eligibility, program benefits, and employment opportunities. Completes forms, reports, and records associated with DWS programs. Performs related responsibilities as required or assigned.
