About the Position
The Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) has an opening for a full time Business Unit Work Leader in our Grand Junction Business Office. This position provides financial support to engineering projects and contracts and supports the financial activity for the Region. The position assists Region 3 staff with organization, business systems support, training, project-related contracting and procurement of goods and services.

About the Position

Your duties and responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following:
Work Leader
- Ensures Business Office Processes are documented and updated
- Monitors work for 3 staff members including quality control, efficiency and workload.
- Coaches, mentors and trains employees for business office activities.
- Implement policies and procedures in a fair and consistent way.
- Supports organizational change efforts and communicate with personnel.
- Analyzes and reviews task order submission documents to ensure that all requirements are met before proceeding with processing and entry into the SRM procurement module.
- Identifies problems with task order submissions and directs project staff to correct discrepancies.
- Ensures shopping carts are consistent with the task order request.
- Coordinates with Engineering Contracts unit on contracting questions.
- Monitors monthly billing amount trends, reviews for outstanding amounts before processing for payment.
- Ensures consultant and local agency payments are consistent with the terms of the task order and/or contract.
- Prepares journal entries in SAP to reclassify costs when necessary.
- Classifies, verifies and records accounts payable transaction in SAP.
- Resolves discrepancies, investigates consultant and local agency payment questions.
- Backs up certain duties of other positions when necessary.
- Provides audit information when requested.
- Maintains accurate and up-to-date files for this position.
- Supports year-end close activities.
- Performs other duties as assigned or required.
- Typical hours – Monday – Friday 8:00 am – 5:00 pm
- Daytime travel during business hours to trainings, selections and debrief meetings.

- Seven years of professional experience closely related to the major job duties
- Three of the seven years must have been full-time professional accounts payable and task order experience. Accounts payable and task order experience must have included reviews, amendments, as well as determining if a request is consistent with applicable guidelines and rules.
- Experience with contracts within Colorado State Government is preferred.
- A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in public administration, business administration, law, or a closely related field of study. (A copy of your transcript showing degree conferral must be submitted to verify this requirement.)
- AND at least three years must have been full-time professional accounts payable and task order experience. Accounts payable and task order experience must have included reviews, amendments, as well as determining if a request is consistent with applicable guidelines and rules. .
- Experience with contracts within Colorado State Government is preferred.
- A Master's Degree from an accredited college or university in public administration, business administration, law, or a closely related field of study. (A copy of your transcript showing degree conferral must be submitted to verify this requirement.)
- AND at one year must have been full-time professional accounts payable and task order experience. Accounts payable and task order experience must have included reviews, amendments, as well as determining if a request is consistent with applicable guidelines and rules.
- Experience with contracts within Colorado State Government is preferred.
- Additional work experience that provided the same kind, amount and level of knowledge acquired in the required education, will substitute on a year-for-year basis for the required bachelor's degree but not for the specific experience..
