GENERAL SUMMARY
Do you thrive working with people from different backgrounds?  The mission of the TRIO Educational Opportunity Center (EOC) at CCD is to help build motivation, confidence and eliminating barriers for low-income / first generation prospective students in the Denver Metro area.   The Community Engagement Specialist provides outreach, communication, and direct support to low-income and first generation prospective students in the Denver metro area.  The primary responsibilities of the position include helping to coordinate social media outreach, community presentations and supporting participants with direct college going activities such as application assistance and college planning. This position is primarily supervised by the TRIO - EOC Director and is contingent upon continued grant funding from the Department of Education.
 
PRIMARY DUTIES
•       Responsible for strategizing, executing, and managing a variety of social media campaigns from beginning to end. Responsibilities will include conceptualizing the campaign, developing and executing all ads, and analyzing ad performance and results
•       Collaborate with CCD marketing department to develop strategy for community engagement with both CCD bound students and the general EOC target area 
•       Work directly with TRIO-EOC staff to develop social media content such as YouTube, Facebook, Instagram promotional videos, program workshops, and related artifacts for the TRIO digital library(ies). 
•       Actively recruits-to-enroll program participants in the TRIO-EOC target area.
•       Engages the community with information and technical assistance workshops to key stakeholder and audiences in the EOC target area.
•       Provide direct assistance with financial aid applications, scholarship search activities and college admissions   
•       Help participants develop a plan and set goals around college selection and degree / certificate 
•        pathways 
•        Engage participants with career exploration activities  
•       Support around digital and financial literacy are also provided as well as referrals for those seeking career and technical education in addition to associate and bachelor degree pathways.
•       Refers participants and their families to community and academic support services as appropriate. 
•       Compiles and designs curriculum and coordinates / facilitates workshops to cater to the needs of EOC participants.
•       Answer and screen incoming calls, emails, social media messages, greet clients and the general public
•       Ensure project files are complete and include all project data and documentation in accordance with grant requirements
 Education:        
Bachelor’s Degree in relevant field (or equivalent of 3 to 5 years of relevant experience)
 
Experience:
•Experience with social media campaigns and / or outreach
•Evidence working with college and university personnel and/or community organizations and service agencies.
•Experience in customer service in an office and/or educational setting that includes data entry, customer service experience, multi-line phone system operation, and proficiency utilizing computer applications (Word, Excel, Outlook). 
•Experience in giving presentations to diverse audiences
 
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
•Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with cross-functional teams
•Excellent communication and presentation skills both verbal and written
•Creating consistent, meaningful content on all social media platforms, including writing and editing social media posts, improving customer engagement, and promoting social media campaigns.
•Ability to multi-task and work well under pressure.
•Comfortable and skillful in working with, communicating to, and serving, low-income, first-generation populations.
•Excellent time-management and organizational skills.
•Demonstrated customer service philosophy and a commitment to Diversity, Equity and Inclusion 
•Ability to provide admissions, career and financial aid counseling
•Knowledgeable of federal financial aid and college admissions processes
•Ability to initiate collaborative interaction with internal and external stakeholders
•Knowledge of issues with first generation college students and other minority groups
•Knowledge of community resources
•Evidence of strong interpersonal and communication skills with demonstrated public speaking experience to a variety of audiences;
•Possess an understanding of the educational needs and concerns for underrepresented, ethnically and racially, and disadvantaged populations;
•Ability to present information in an interactive / workshop environment both virtually and in-person
 
 
 SELECTION PROCESS
 
Preliminary screening will be made on the basis of completed application packet submitted by candidate.  Completed application packet includes: a letter of interest of no more than five pages, addressing in general the items under "Primary Duties" and specifically each item under “Minimum Qualifications”; an online application; resume; and transcripts.  All candidates, including current Community College of Denver

Salary : $50,000 - $55,000
