Your Specific Responsibilities:
This position spends more than 50% of the time engaged in supervisory responsibilities working closely with the Community Programs Manager. This includes planning, coordination, administration, evaluation, and oversight of Leon-County-wide comprehensive public health education programs designed to increase awareness and knowledge relating to the improvement of health for individuals, families and/or the community.
Program Management
· Oversees the daily workload of community health workers/educators including monitoring performance, conducting performance evaluations, providing staff training, participating in interview & selection process. Completing timesheets, EARS, weekly/monthly check-ins, and summary of work and/or deliverable reporting.
· Establishes priorities for the solution of community health education problems by planning and developing public health education programs through the application of health education methods and procedures, and in collaboration with targeted communities.
· Recommends health education needs by collecting, analyzing, and reporting data to identify appropriate individual and community health education interventions.
· Evaluates the extent to which health education programs meet their objectives and impact the target population's knowledge, attitudes, beliefs, practices, and behaviors, by utilizing appropriate data collection methods.
· Utilizes findings and community input for future planning and policy development.
· Develops program curriculum, participant activities, and program outreach/educational materials.
Supervision
· Assists with the coordination of the delivery of program services and educational resources to program participants and the public.
· Identifies targeted participant groups and oversees and participates in outreach efforts.
· Establishes and maintains relationships/partnerships with community organizations.
· Participates in strategic planning and the development of program and agency goals and objectives.
· Ensures program goals and objectives are achieved.
· Assists in preparing and managing the program budget.
· Supervise health education programs to reduce health disparities, improve cultural competence and linguistic access.
· Ensures that programmatic goals and objectives are met, including timely required reporting. Collaborates with other department supervisors and manages program areas on an ongoing basis.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge, skills and abilities, including utilization of equipment, required for the position: The principles, techniques, and practice of public and community health education, including the understanding cultural needs of diverse ethnic minority populations. Advanced computer skills that include MS Office products. Work effectively with a multidisciplinary team. Prepare clear and concise reports, correspondence, and other written materials; prepare and provide effective orientations and educational presentations. Providing strong analytical, written, and verbal communications. Knowledge of financial systems for tracking encumbrances and payments.
Qualifications:
Minimum:
- Two (2) years of experience in a supervisory role
- Three (3) years of experience in community outreach, health education, or in a role representing or supporting local community agencies
Preferred:
- Bachelor's degree in public health, social work, healthcare management, human services, or a related field. One (1) year of progressive leadership experience relevant to a Population Health role
- Two (2) years of prior experience working in a Community Health Worker
- Five (5) years of experience in community outreach, health education, or in a role representing or supporting local community agencies
- Previous experience in a healthcare setting.
