The Office of Information Technology Services is looking for a detail-oriented Systems Programming Administrator to join our team. The essential function of this position within the Department is to oversee the design, implementation, and maintenance of network infrastructure. The Network Manager will lead a team of IT professionals, ensuring high availability, security, and optimal performance of all network systems. Responsibilities include managing network hardware and software, planning upgrades, monitoring network performance, troubleshooting issues, and implementing robust security measures. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership skills, in-depth knowledge of networking protocols and technologies, and a proven track record of managing complex IT environments. This position is located at the DCF Headquarters in Tallahassee in the Office of Information Technology Services.
EXAMPLES OF WORK:
Work closely with external vendors and other partners to optimize network performance and ensure that services are delivered in a timely manner. Design and implementing robust network architectures to meet the department’s needs. Work with internal and external customers to analyze and implement network changes.
Monitoring network performance and proactively addressing bottlenecks or inefficiencies. Work with vendors to make sure that service level agreements are adhered to. Monitor and report on performance metrics to management and provide enhancements to improve network performance and security.
Create and maintain detailed installation and support documentation to include operational procedures. Train staff on standard operating procedures and ensure that proper protocols are followed for network implementations.
Analyzes, identifies, and resolves the causes of networking problems, using diagnostic testing software and equipment and/or technical troubleshooting processes. Maintains network performance by network monitoring and analysis, tuning, and troubleshooting network problems. Monitor network traffic by analyzing workflow, access, information, and security systems and reports.
Responsible for building, installing, configuring, and testing the network for optimal coverage and reliability. Tests and evaluates hardware and software to determine efficiency, reliability, and compatibility with existing system.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES, including utilization of equipment, required for the position:
Knowledge to identify measures or indicators of system performance and the actions needed to improve or correct performance, relative to the goals of the system; Knowledge of Cisco LAN and Routing equipment; Knowledge of Windows 10, Windows 11, Windows Server and client software used to support a LAN/WAN environment; Knowledge of Mainframe Emulation Tools; Knowledge of PC based software; Strong knowledge of Local Area Networks (LAN), DHCP, DNS, TCP/IP, SSL, VPN and routing protocols; Strong network troubleshooting skills; Strong knowledge in developing upgrade and implementation plans and working with project team members and management to implement changes; Ability to combine pieces of information to form general rules or conclusions; Ability to communicate effectively with peers, executives, staff and customers, verbally and in writing; Ability to follow established priorities and procedures; Ability to analyze information and evaluating results to choose the best solution and solve problems. Ability to delegate and assign tasks, balance teams work load and ensure tasks are completed in a timely manner.
REQUIREMENTS:
A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and five years of experience in network systems analysis and/or network systems management, three years of which must have been in routers, switches and firewalls, one year supporting a network access control system and five years supporting network devices on a Wide Area Network. One year of cloud experience and three years of supervisory experience.
