Job Description
The Iowa Department of Transportation is seeking an Engineering Intern to join our Primary Design Team in Mason City, IA!
This student would work as part of the District 2’s Primary Design team designing highway repair, rehabilitation and/or safety projects. This position would provide extensive experience in CADD and an opportunity to learn about the Iowa DOT’s design processes and policies.
Work involved would include identifying problems to be addressed by the project, designing solutions to address those problems, documenting design decisions, estimating quantities of work to be accomplished, preparing cost estimates, and designing/drafting final construction plans for project letting. The student would gain experience in coordinating project designs with other DOT offices, with local governments whose facilities may be affected by the project, and potentially with private consulting firms.
Minimum Qualification Requirements
Completion of at least?two years?in civil, construction, materials, or transportation engineering, or in an engineering management curriculum at an accredited?four-year college or university with eligibility for junior status upon return to school.
