Position functions as an intake specialist assigned to the Centralized Intake (CI) unit. Employees in this position will answer calls received on the MDHHS Centralized Intake hotline for reports of the abuse, neglect and exploitation of children and vulnerable adults. The employee will document complaint information obtained from callers during phone interviews as well as information obtained from multiple information systems and resources, working under strict timelines and in accordance with law, policy and operational procedures. Complaints regarding the welfare of children will be entered into the Michigan Statewide Automated Child Welfare Information System (MiSACWIS). Complaints regarding the welfare of adults will be entered into the Michigan Adult Integrated Management System (MiAIMS).

This position is located at the 5303 28th Street Court, SE STE A, Grand Rapids, MI 49546. However, for a limited time, this position may currently work a remote/hybrid schedule. Employees will be provided computers to perform state work. Phones may also be provided for necessary communications. If working remotely, employees will be responsible for providing other components of a remote office at their own expense, including:
- A secure work location that allows privacy and prevents distractions.
- A high-speed internet connection of at least 25 Mbps download and 5 Mbps upload.
- Suitable lighting, furniture, and utilities.
This position is not eligible for the children's protective services/foster care program rate, but is classified as a Services Specialist in CPS (you will be doing CPS Intake). The Centralized Intake Unit has many different shift schedules. You will be asked to rank your shift preferences at the time of interview.
Any candidate hired as a Services Specialist in a protective services, foster care services, or adoption services position must successfully complete an eight week pre-service training program that includes a total of 270 hours of competency-based classroom and field training. The employee will also be required to pass a competency based performance evaluation which shall include a written examination. Additionally, the employee must successfully complete a minimum number of hours of in-service training on an annual basis.
