The Forensic Mental Health Program provides mental health evaluation and treatment services to individuals diagnosed with a mental illness who present a risk to public safety. This is a safe and secure treatment environment.
The Direct Care and Treatment Forensic Mental Health Program is looking for an excited, qualified person-centered, compassionate individual that will enjoy working with a diverse population as the St. Peter, MN campus' Café Operator. This position exists to provide professional organization for the purpose of maintaining and operating Creekside Café, the Corner Store, and multiple Forensic Services campus events, along with ensuring the Summit Center common area is maintained in an orderly manner. To prepare food and items for sale and to provide guidance of central service workers, light duty workers, and patient workers. To ensure quality goods and food is provided in a cost-effective, safe, and timely manner; and all procedures are followed according to the MN Department of Health. Assessment of services and products to ensure compliance with applicable policy and procedure. Additionally, assists in making final recommendations on process improvements to ensure efficient and quality work outcomes.
Key responsibilities :
First line of support for all Creekside Café & Corner Store staff and customers.
Monitors areas of responsibility to ensure systems are running at peak performance level.
Works with teams in operational and organizational dynamics to identify areas of needed improvement.
Designs and handles workflow to keep Creekside Café kitchen and Corner Store operating at an optimal level.
Works with outside vendors for weekly inventory deliveries to maintain adequate stock is always on hand.
Contributes to development of vocational patient workers in learning skills necessary for community re-integration.
This role :
Is first line support for Creekside Café & Corner Store, maintains customer-service orientation and professionalism in all interactions.
Focuses on patients and staff across all of Forensics programming areas to ensure there is a safe and functional Café and Retail space.
Ensures smooth daily operation of food and retail services.
Uses extensive analytical and troubleshooting skills to carry out primary responsibilities.
Focuses on analyzing business processes to effectively accomplish business objectives by implementing and providing production support.
Ensures specific solutions designed for customers are rendered according to policy and Department of Health.
Minimum Qualifications
To qualify, you must have :
Certification as a Certified Food Manager and is the PIC (Person In Charge) in accordance with the MN and Brown-Nicollet Department of Environmental Health.
Working knowledge of basic computer programs such as Word, Excel, SWIFT, AVATAR, email, and other operating systems.
Knowledge of State and Federal Health Department regulations on food safety and sanitation. Experience cooking and planning on a large-scale basis.
Working knowledge of specific conditions of clients at the Forensic Mental Health Program and knowledge i.e. mental illness, developmental disabilities, personality disorders, psychopathic personalities, chemical dependency etc.
Large scale food preparation, service techniques, Department of Health Standards and Ordinances.
Demonstrated competence in all staff mandated trainings to include but not limited to CPR, First Aid, VAA,TI, PST, Right to Know, Infection Control, etc.
Must have outstanding oral and written communication skills to provide information, instructions, and directives. Active listening skills effective to elicit opinions, ideas, and support.
Experience in working alongside patients and staff at the Forensics Mental Health Program.
Preferred Qualifications
The following qualifications are strongly desired of applicants seeking consideration for this position :
One year experience in working in a large-scale food preparation setting with food service equipment.
Knowledge of forensic services specific policies related to a secure perimeter setting and canteen operation.
