The Office of Cannabis Management is currently seeking a Legal Analyst to provide legal research, consultation, and litigation support to the legal division and OCM leadership. The legal analyst will play a large role in implementing the Minnesota Government Data Practices Act (MGDPA) and responding to data requests.
This position is located in St. Paul and may telework from home two days per week and is expected to be in the office three days per week.

- Manage and track OCM’s responses to data requests
- Advise OCM staff on data classification under the MGDPA
- Research and implement Data Practices Office opinions and policy
- Research and analyze state and federal statutes, rules, case law, and other legal publications
- Gather information about individuals, business entities, assets, legislation impacting OCM, and rulemaking records
- Draft legal memorandum orders and other legal documents
- E-file all applicable records with the courts in a timely manner
To facilitate proper years of service crediting, please ensure that your resume clearly describes your experience in the areas listed and indicates the beginning and ending month and year for each job held.
- Two years of experience in a paralegal or legal research role analyzing complex information and drafting legal documents
- Knowledge of administrative law, data privacy, and the e-filing process
- Writing skills sufficient to draft legal documents without errors and communicate complex information to a variety of audiences
- Organizational skills sufficient to manage a varying case load, court and attorney calendars, and administrative tasks
- Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality
- Ability to celebrate diversity and a strong commitment to a respectful and inclusive work environment
- A bachelor’s degree or higher in the areas of legal studies, public administration, law, or paralegal certificate
- Five or more years of experience in a paralegal or legal research role analyzing complex information and drafting legal documents
- Knowledge of MN Cannabis laws and regulations
