The Disability Adjudicator II position makes disability determinations for individuals who apply for Social Security Disability benefits at the Initial level, Reconsideration level, and Continuing Disability Review level.
How does it get done?
The Disability Adjudicator II position is required to balance production, timeliness, customer service, and accuracy to ensure that individual and agency goals are met. The Disability Adjudicator II must have good caseload management skills, and technical writing skills.

Citizens of New Mexico.
Ideal Candidate
Experience with caseload management; Bachelors degree; ability to apply policy and procedures; one year Disability Determination Services Adjudication experience.
Minimum Qualification
Associates Degree and two (2) years of experience in a in a related field. One (1) year of direct experience with the Department of Vocational Rehabilitation (DVR) substitutes for one (1) year of experience. Substitutions apply.

Employment Requirements
Individuals selected for positions with the New Mexico Disability Determination Service (DDS) will go through a complete federal background investigation. A suitability determination by the Social Security Administration is necessary to determine whether an employee can be issued credentials in order to have access to Social Security disability data, records, and systems. Finalists must pass a preliminary check prior to a job offer being made. A full background investigation will follow. Further details will be provided during the interview process.
Working Conditions
Work is performed in an office setting with exposure to Visual/Video Display Terminal (VDT) and extensive personal computer and phone usage. Some sitting, standing, bending and reaching may be required
