All positions at the public education department are based in Santa Fe however some may operate through our Albuquerque office based on home address and space availability.

Why does the job exist?
The overall purpose of the position is to ensure the PED is meeting compliance with cross-cutting federal grant requirements, supporting internal bureaus / divisions with developing consistent support systems for subrecipients, and providing statewide technical assistance to local districts and state-authorized charters.
How does it get done?
o Provides technical assistance to subrecipients for all federal education grants, applications, and budgets (60%)
Oversee, review, analyze, and evaluate grants / assistance applications, plans, and estimates
Determine awardee eligibility using formulas and methodology and established eligibility criteria, such as competitive rating factors
o Direct desktop and on-site monitoring activities of all subrecipients (30%)
Conduct risk assessments and business reviews
Interprets federal, state, and local statutes and regulations to ensure compliance
Conduct program evaluation, including monitoring and assessing awardee performance, and establishing performance measures
o Lead special projects as assigned (10%)
Coordinate the development of resources, memoranda, and technical assistance with cross-agency teams
Developing and delivering external professional learning events and trainings

7) Strong proficiency in analyzing data workbooks and financial reports.
Minimum Qualification
Bachelor's degree in Education, Public Administration, or Business Administration and five (5) years of experience as a teacher and / or program administrator. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field and / or direct experience in this occupation totaling nine (9) years may substitute for the required education and experience.

Employment Requirements
Must possess and maintain a valid New Mexico's Driver's License.
Working Conditions
Work is performed in an office setting with exposure to Visual / Video Display Terminal (VDT) and extensive personal computer and phone usage. Some sitting, standing, bending and reaching may be required. Some occasional travel is required for meetings and conferences.
