Why does the job exist?
Incumbent will partner effectively with young people to support the transition from foster care to adulthood in developmentally appropriate and identity affirming ways; facilitate enrollment and ongoing participation in the Fostering Connections program; implement the coaching approach practice model to support growth across life domains (housing, physical and mental health, daily living skills, employment and finances, education, supportive relationships and community connections, cultural and personal identity; parenthood); serve as an partner, advocate, and support to young people in internal and external staffing, meetings, and with community-based providers; ensure opportunities to participate in normative activities that build (life) skills needed for successful adulthood.
How does it get done?
Provide direct supervision to assigned staff and lead the local county office management team;
Review, assign and monitor in-home, voluntary services cases designed to address the safety needs of the child and enhance child and family well-being;
Review and approve units work to ensure the provision of quality family centered services;
Review practice and work collaboratively with internal and external partners to ensure the provision of quality services so as to achieve the goals of safety, permanency and well-being for children and families served by the agency.
Minimum Qualification
Master's degree in Social Work from an accredited college/university. Must possess a current license at the LMSW or LISW level issued by the NM Board of Social Work Examiners or eligibility for such licensure in accordance with New Mexico requirements. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field above licensure requirements and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling six (6) years may substitute for the required education and experience.
Employment Requirements
Must possess and maintain a valid Driver's License. Pre-employment background investigation is required and is conditional pending results.
Working Conditions
Work is performed in an office setting: late hours, weekends, on-call and callback work may be required. Will be exposed to regular periods of video display terminal and keyboard usage and stressful situations. Travel is required. Possible exposure to irate clientele. Incumbent will work under stress and frequent time constraints. Incumbent will be required to furnish a personal vehicle for carrying out assignments which may include transporting clients including children. Must have own mode of transportation.
