The New Mexico Department of Transportation (NMDOT) mission is to provide a safe and efficient transportation system for the traveling public, while promoting economic development and preserving the environment of New Mexico. The Records and Information Management Section (RIMS) of the NMDOT is responsible for the management of all NMDOT records and for responding to IPRA and other records request.
Why does the job exist?
The position works directly with the Staff Manager of the Records & Information Management Section (RIMS) to coordinate internal and external records requests by performing complex research, data entry, quality control checks, and ensures documents are properly scanned, organized, and stored.
In addition, this position serves as the backup for incoming Inspection of Public Records Act (IPRA) requests from the public, dockets deadlines, works with subject matter experts and the Office of General Counsel in order to fully comply with requests to meet deadlines.
How does it get done?
This position will use advanced analytical skills in performing complex research to locate
records responsive to IPRA requests and other internal / external records requests.
This position will also :
- Assists the RIMS Staff Manager with IPRA requests and other records related matters on a daily basis
- Conducts meetings, and assists with drafting portions of the RIMS' training manual
and presentation materials

Who are the customers?
NMDOT General Office and District Offices staff, NMDOT Office of General Counsel, the public and other state and local government requestors.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate will have preferred experience / education in the following areas :
Minimum Qualification
Bachelor's degree in Business Administration and two (2) years of experience in the procedures of business and management principles involved in strategic planning. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field and / or direct experience in this occupation totaling six (6) years may substitute for the required education and experience.

Employment Requirements
Must posses and maintain a valid Driver's License. Must posses and maintain a current Defensive Driving Course certificate from the State of New Mexico or must pass and receive a Defensive Driving Course certificate as a condition of continued employment.
Working Conditions
Work is performed in an office setting, exposure to Visual / Video Display terminal (VDT) and extensive personal computer and telephone usage with extended periods of sitting. Must be able to lift 25 lbs. Some statewide travel may be required. Periodic work under time constraints.
