The NM State Land Office has a Non-Emergency Telework Policy, which allows eligible employees to telework up to twenty-four (24) hours a week consistent with the agency's business needs.

Why does the job exist?
The core mission of the New Mexico State Land Office (NMSLO) is to responsibly generate revenue through a wide array of leasing activities on state trust lands on behalf of public schools, universities and hospitals. The job researches, analyzes, records, manages and confirms state trust land ownership, Record Title Interest(s), restrictions, and the Chain of Title for activities on those state trust lands.
How does it get done?
The staff member will implement, improve, and analyze accepted procedures to research, review, analyze and manage source documents such as Patents, Clear Lists, Warranty Deeds, Quit Claim Deeds or other land ownership documents that confirm land ownership to the state trust. Similarly, Historical and Current Lease Contracts are reviewed, analyzed, recorded, quality controlled, managed and maintained to document comprehensive Abstract of Entry postings, which evidences the Chain-of-Title, and/or Title Interest or Restriction(s). The staff member will record the postings by following the Public Land Survey System (PLSS) for each Section within a Township/Range, creating informational electronic data and documents that are researched, reviewed and utilized daily, and which process ensures future business continuity. The staff member will also review, analyze, and identify discrepancies in proposed applications or contracts and executed legal documents, and propose corrective action to the pertinent Management Analyst within the respective Agency Divisions.

Internal: Oil, Gas, and Minerals Division; Administrative Services; Commercial Division; Legal Division; Surface Resources Division; and executive State Land Office management officials (Office of the Commissioner).
External: New Mexico public schools, universities and hospitals; individuals; general public; lessees (agricultural, oil and gas companies, commercial, rights-of-ways); natural resource authorization users; program enrollees; hunters; other government entities (state, federal, city, county, tribal).
Ideal Candidate

Minimum Qualification
Associate degree and two (2) years of experience in the procedures of business and management principles involved in strategic planning. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling four (4) years may substitute for the required education and experience.
Employment Requirements
Must possess and maintain a valid New Mexico Driver's License.
Must obtain and maintain a state of New Mexico Defensive Driving Certificate.
Working Conditions
Work is performed primarily in an office setting with exposure to Visual/Video Display Terminal (VDT) and extensive personal computer to include working with computers, faxes, copiers and printers, and phone usage with extended periods of sitting, standing, bending, squatting, climbing, reaching, kneeling and crawling. Ability to lift up to 25 lbs. Some travel may be required.
