Description of Work

The Children’s Developmental Services Agency (CDSA) of Shelby serves a 5-county catchment area including the following counties: Cleveland, Gaston, Lincoln, Polk, and Rutherford. This position, located in Shelby/Cleveland County, supports operational functions that allow the Shelby CDSA to maximize agency revenues, maintain staff efficiency, and comply with state and federal requirements. The position is responsible for billing and reimbursement support functions, including reviewing and entering Financial Eligibility Applications and billing forms into the electronic Health Information System (HIS) and submitting electronic and manual claims to Medicaid and private insurance companies. The position also provides clerical support to direct services and administrative staff, completes data entry, data management, and medical record management functions, and assists with reception and fielding telephone calls. Additional duties may include purchasing, motor fleet management, and office and facilities management.

  • The North Carolina Early Intervention Section is a part of the Division of Child and Family Well-Being. It is the lead agency for the N.C. Infant-Toddler Program which provides supports and services for families and their children, birth to three, who have developmental delays and/or disabilities.
  • Children's Developmental Services Agencies (CDSAs) are the local agencies that implement the NC ITP across North Carolina, working with local service providers to help families help their children succeed.
  • This Early Intervention Service Coordinator position is located at the Shelby Children's Developmental Services Agency.

Qualified applicants must possess, and application must clearly reflect work experience that demonstrates the following:


  • Demonstrated experience in using Word, Excel, databases, and automated billing software.
  • Experienced in third-party billing and experience billing Medicaid and private insurers.
  • Experienced in analyzing data for trends and variables.
  • Demonstrated experience with analyzing and interpreting policy and procedural guidelines to resolve problems and questions.
  • Working knowledge in organizing workflow and coordinating activities.

Physical Requirements:


Light work with some physical lifting. Periodic travel to other locations within the catchment area.
