Description of Work
Are you a college student (or recent college graduate) looking for Human Resources Internship for the Summer of 2025? If so, continue reading to learn more about this exciting opportunity with the North Carolina Department of Public Safety (DPS).
This internship is located within the Human Resources section of the North Carolina National Guard, a division of DPS. The North Carolina National Guard currently employs over 300 permanent and temporary employees. Job duties will include a variety of human resources projects. The intern will have exposure to a Human Resources Information System (HRIS) and an Applicant Tracking System (ATS). Specific job duties will include :
- Providing information by answering communications; referring special communications to appropriate person.
- Maintaining human resources personnel and medical records.
- Maintaining manager and employee confidence by keeping human resources information confidential.
- Updating job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading technical publications.
- Accomplishing human resources and organization mission by completing tasks as needed.
- Managing HR records including applications, applicant logs, and employee forms.
- Responding to HR-related queries within the company.
- Assisting with the distribution of training material.
- Assisting with new employee onboarding.
- Contributing to recruitment efforts
- Assisting HR Manager and staff with day-to-day HR operations.
This internship is expected to start on May 19, 2025, and continue through July 25, 2025. The work schedule is Hybrid, part-time (up to 30 hours per week), Monday -Friday, 8am-5pm . The rate of pay is $18.00 per hour. We value our employees and are committed to providing flexibility in work schedules. This position qualifies for teleworking on a part-time basis as part of the State Telework Program.
