What are the responsibilities and job description for the State Veterans Cemeteries Program Manager position at State of North Carolina?
The North Carolina Department of Military and Veteran Affairs (DMVA) is seeking applicants for a Cemetery Program Manager. The position is responsible for the management and oversight of all four (4) state veterans cemeteries. This position will be housed at DMVA Headquarters in Raleigh, NC but travel may be required to visit state veteran cemeteries across the state
The NC Veterans Cemeteries Program Manager is responsible for ensuring the quality of customer service and cemetery appearance and is responsible for ensuring the efficiency and effectiveness of all cemetery operations.
Primary responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Supervision of four state cemetery superintendents to ensure proper management and coordination of day-to-day operations
- Ensure cemetery superintendents are adequately trained and supervised
- Work with HR when employee issues occur
- Ensure all financial records are adequately maintained
- Ensure all field personnel have the required OSHA and hazardous material training
- Responsible for all aspects of cemetery operations, grounds maintenance, equipment maintenance, and inventory maintenance
- Ensure facilities, standing structures and cemetery grounds are maintained in acceptable conditions
- Ensure committal services are conducted in a clean, safe environment in a manner to render honor the veterans and their dependents
- Ensure any complaints or cemetery issues are resolved in a timely manner
- Engaging with veteran families and the public
- Strive to obtain National Cemetery Administration compliance
- Monitor inventory to determine when expansion grants will be needed
- Work closely with National Cemetery Administration and State Construction during the grant application process and the construction phase
- Work closely with the cemetery staff to achieve high NCA survey results
- Documented experience in cemetery administration
- Demonstrated experience overseeing administrative programs
- Documented experience supervising subordinate staff
- Experience presenting to one or all of the following: leadership teams, elected officials, and community stakeholders
