The Utah State Hospital (USH) is seeking an experienced, career minded individual to assist in managing the daily operations of our Food Services Department. The Food Services Supervisor I works closely with both the department manager and kitchen staff to oversee preparation and service of food, training and management of staff, inventory counts/rotation, quality control and efficiency improvement. The Food Services Supervisor I also actively contributes to the department managers efforts in scheduling, staffing, budgets, planning, and ordering.
The Food Service Department at USH is a fun, hardworking team responsible for preparation and service of daily meals to over 300 patients and their guests as well as about 800 State employees. This is a full-time position Monday-Friday 9am-530pm. (after 30 days of training) that includes a full State of Utah employee benefits package.

Minimum Qualifications:
- Food Service Supervisor Certificate / ServSafe Certification.
- Two years of formal food service training and three years food service management experience, or a combination of training and experience in a food service management position to equal five years.
- Basic knowledge of the principles of dietetics/nutrition.
- Experience supervising, training and evaluating employee proficiency and efficiency.
- The ability to speak, read and write English and follow written and oral directions.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Advanced knowledge and experience in food preparation, sanitation, inventory rotation, large scale ordering, record keeping, safety, and deep-clean scheduling/tracking.
- The physical ability to perform the duties of the position, which often requires performing repetitive tasks and physical movements. These may include, but are not limited to: standing/walking continuously, lifting (50 pounds or more), bending, turning, kneeling, crouching, and reaching above the shoulders.
- A neat personal appearance and an industrious and cooperative attitude, as well as professional references who can verify a track record of honesty, dependability, and strong character.
- Department of Human Resource Management rules and Department of Health and Human Services policies regarding promotions and transfers apply to current employees.
