DSHS DDA Regional Waiver Program Specialist
We’re looking to hire a Regional Waiver Program Specialist at the Department of Social and Health Services (DSHS), Developmental Disabilities Administration (DDA) office in Spokane. You’ll be a specialist for waiver programs for staff at the regional level which entails regional consultation, training, and support for case management staff, communication of regional needs to headquarters, participating in the development of rules, program policy, management bulletins, and regional training.
We support a hybrid work model, so we currently expect limited days of on-site work. You and your supervisor will identify an appropriate work schedule, which may include a modified work schedule or telework and occasional office coverage. This position is mostly remote with training and some meetings conducted on-site.
Some of what you’ll do
- Review all requests for waiver services, including policy exceptions, to ensure they are within allowable parameters
- Approve/deny requests at the regional level or, as appropriate, make recommendations for denial or approval to the regional or field services administrators
- Monitor waiver work throughout the region for compliance with program requirements, laws, and operational policies and procedures
- Identify trends and patterns of non-compliance, policy misinterpretation or application and/or inconsistency that indicate a need for regional training
- Oversee quality assurance with the region in waiver program areas and respond to waiver audits
- Develop, coordinate, and provide region-specific training addressing identified information from monitoring and audit processes
- Provide technical assistance, support, and training for new case resource managers
- Participate in meetings to consider/review new waiver referrals/requests
- Assist in preparation for administrative hearings; provide expert technical testimony at hearings as requested
- Understand and interpret the DSHS/DDA mission, program policies and procedures, WAC and other regulations to staff, clients, families, service providers and other stakeholders.
We’re looking for a professional with
A bachelor’s degree in social work, a health or social science, public administration, or a related field; AND five years of professional experience in planning, administering, developing, or delivering social, financial, health, or chemical dependency treatment services programs.
OR
A master’s degree in social work, a health or social science, public administration, or a related field; AND four years of professional experience in planning, administering, developing, or delivering social, financial, health, or chemical dependency treatment services programs.
OR
One year of experience as a Social and Health Program Consultant 3 or equivalent.
OR
Two years of experience as a Social and Health Program Consultant 2 or equivalent.
Desired
- Ability to develop, plan, coordinate and provide staff training
- Knowledge and understanding of all the laws and regulations regarding the waiver program and employment/day program services
