The Washington State Ferry (WSF) system is essential to Washington's transportation network, linking communities on both sides of Puget Sound and the San Juan Islands. There are over nearly 400 sailings each day on nine ferry routes. WSF transports nearly 19 million passengers a year and has more than 1,900 employees. Employees perform a variety of duties on vessels, in terminals, at the maintenance facility, and at the Seattle headquarters.
The Opportunity
WSDOT is currently seeking a Fiscal Analysis 4 to assist with overseeing the revenue collection using Electronic Fare System, DVR, and other various computer systems to ensure accurate reporting of revenue. This position will investigate, audit and monitor WSF’s revenue related functions at 19 terminals ensuring that revenue collections are accurate. Create and enforce the current policies and procedures that reduce customer and employee errors, theft and fraud. This position is WSF front line auditor/investigator for over 246 safes, sellers, and up to 46 supervisors at terminal locations.
What to Expect
Among the varied range of responsibilities held within this role, you/the Fiscal Analyst 4 will:
- Investigate variance reports, exemptions and review daily zero dollars transactions.
- Research refund requests
- Conduct random audits of terminal employee working funds and terminal supervisor safes.
- Monitor Travel Pass program
Qualifications
To be considered for this opportunity, the following are required:
- Bachelor’s degree with major emphasis in Business Administration, Criminal Justice, Accounting. (Professional experience may be substituted for the required education, 2 years for AA, and 4 years for a BA/BS)
- Possession of a valid Transportation Workers Identification Card (TWIC).
- Valid driver’s license.
- Solid working knowledge of all WSF Terminal operations, knowledge of revenue collection policies and procedures.
- Strong investigating skills.
- Ability to research and apply union contracts, WSF policy and procedures, and Washington State Administrative Codes.
- Abily to gather and present evidence without arising undue or undesirable comments among employees.
- Strong verbal, written communication skills and detail oriented.
- Demonstrate excellent customer service, problem-solving skills, and ability to handle high-pressure situations with a positive attitude.
- Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment and ab able to work efficiently despite regular interruptions.
- Solid knowledge and experience with Microsoft office products.

- The salary listed includes the legislative-approved 5% salary premium for positions with an assigned duty station in King County.
- In addition to base salary, employees may be entitled to other forms of compensation depending on the type, duties, or location of the position. For union-represented positions, more information on other forms of compensation can be found in the applicable Collective Bargaining Agreements. Information on other compensation types for non-represented positions can be found in Chapter 357-28of the Washington Administrative Code.
