Position Summary
The City Engineer / Stormwater Utility Manager, under the administrative direction of the Director of Public Works, directs, coordinates, and administers engineering support services for the department and plans, supervises, and coordinates projects critical to the maintenance and development of the City's public works and stormwater utility infrastructure. This leader acts as the Public Works Director in their absence. The City Engineer / Stormwater Utility Manager is a pivotal senior staff member of the city who executes important professional and administrative duties including the responsibility for engineering and construction support services for the City's public infrastructure and the supervision of the City's engineering technicians.
The City Engineer / Stormwater Utility Manager is a professional engineer with a broad background in civil engineering primarily based in municipal environments. The development, planning, management, and permit compliance of the City's Stormwater Management Plan and activities represents a key portion of the position's focus. This leader is dedicated to the technical aspects and endeavors necessary to support the citizens and business of Middleton. As a collaborative professional, the City Engineer / Stormwater Manager works with internal teams, consultants, developers engineers, city committees, and external agencies - both public and private.
The City Engineer / Stormwater Utility Manager can work independently, set and manage priorities across multiple concurrent projects and meet deadlines that can change rapidly. This is accomplished through supervision and team direction, personal execution of work, and effective management of personnel, equipment and funding resources. In tackling these diverse and broad duties the City Engineer / Stormwater Manager must effectively communicate across multiple channels and modes while always maintaining a professional and positive bearing and attitude.
Salary Information
Salary : $105,200 - $121,000.
