Introduction
The Department of Health Services (DHS), Wisconsin Resource Center (WRC) is recruiting for multiple Food Service Leader 2 positions. These positions will work 9:30 AM - 6:00 PM or 4:30 AM - 1:00 PM and will be required to work weekends and holidays with every 3rd weekend off.
WRC is part of the Division of Care and Treatment Services (DCTS). WRC is the largest psychiatric facility in the state and is the only secure treatment facility in Wisconsin that specializes in treating individuals with severe mental health conditions referred by the Wisconsin Department of Corrections and the community.

Position Summary
As a Food Service Leader 2, you will be responsible for training, leading and directing residents in the distribution and service of food and the performance of related sanitation activities within the Food Service areas.
Salary Information
The starting pay is $21.53 per hour, plus excellent benefits. A 12-month probationary period is required.
Pay for current or former state employees will be set based on the rules that apply to compensation for the applicable transaction. These positions are classified as Corrections Food Service Leader 2’s and are in pay schedule and range 03/12.
Job Details
All applicants who may be appointed to these positions will be required to allow DHS to conduct a background check to determine whether the circumstances of any conviction may be related to the job being filled.
All appointees will be required to receive a TB test, which will be administered by WRC or medical personnel approved by the facility within 30 days of the start date.
These positions have physical requirements which may include but are not limited to lifting up to 50 lbs., pushing and pulling loaded food carts, bending, twisting, reaching, kneeling, stooping, standing, sitting and working on feet for extended periods of time. Applicants may be required to pass a physical evaluation to assess these requirements.
Qualifications
At a minimum, you’ll need the following:
- Ability to work scheduled hours as needed, which includes weekends, holidays, early mornings or early evenings, and overtime as needed.
- Experience with basic sanitation procedures.
It’d be great if you also have at least one of the following:
- Experience working in food service, maintaining food safety and sanitation standards.
- Experience in a leadership role.
- Experience working as part of a team.
