What We Are Seeking: The DATCP’s Division of Trade and Consumer Protection is recruiting for an Environmental Program Associate to fill a Limited Term Employment opportunity. This Limited Term appointment is expected to work approximately 35 - 40 hours per week, from March through September.

Where We Are Located: This position is located at 2811 Agriculture Drive in Madison, WI. DATCP is in the Prairie Oaks State Office Building situated on Madison's southeast side. We are only minutes away from the Beltline Highway, Interstate 90 and Highway 51 for quick access to local restaurants, retail and service locations.

Telecommuting Option: This position may have the ability to telecommute up to 6 days per 2-week pay period! An approved telecommuting agreement is required before an employee may telecommute. Approval of the employee’s telecommuting agreement and work schedule will vary based on the operational needs of the Division. All DATCP employees who telecommute are required to live in Wisconsin.

Position Summary


This position is responsible for processing storage tank documentation, reviewing annual permit to operate documents and issuing permits for the storage tank section in the Bureau of Weights and Measures. The position works closely with, and serves as back-up to, the Bureau’s permanent licensing and permitting staff.

50% Intake and processing of Storage Tank registration, permitting, and petition for variance documentation.

35% Storage Tank Customer Relationship Management (CRM) Database and Entry

15% General Administrative Tasks

Salary Information


The Environmental Program Associate is in schedule/ range 02-12.

Pay will be $23.41 per hour

For current and eligible former State employees, compensation will be set in accordance with the State Compensation Plan effective at the time of hire.

Job Details


DATCP does not sponsor work visas. Any appointment made will be contingent on the selected applicant being able to provide documentation of eligibility to work in the United States.

A criminal background check will be performed on the selected applicant prior to an offer of employment.

Applicant must be a resident of Wisconsin (18 years of age or older).

Limited term positions are not civil service classified positions, do not have rights to permanent civil service positions and do not lead to permanent status.

This position is Limited Term Employment (LTE) and is limited to 1,039 hours in 26 consecutive pay periods (1 year).


Qualifications


Minimally qualified candidates will have EACH of the following:

Experience with computer programs, such as Microsoft Office Suite or similar (e.g., Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, Adobe Pro, Zoom, etc.).
  • Experience performing administrative tasks (e.g., answering phones, writing letters or reports, managing and maintaining records, using a scanner, etc.)
  • Experience assisting customers and/or stakeholders with questions by utilizing a variety of communication methods (e.g., phone, email, fax, in- person, etc.)
  • Experience handling sensitive/confidential information and/or documentation.


In addition, highly qualified candidates will have
ONE or MORE of the following:

Experience in information and data management, including using database applications such as Win Wam and/or CRM and proficiency working with Microsoft Excel.
  • Experience reviewing, checking, auditing work for quality and completeness.
  • Experience with state statutes, administrative codes and environmental regulatory programs.
