Position Summary
Our paralegals support and manage collections and tax caseload for a legal staff of 10 staff attorneys and Chief Counsel of the Department of Revenue. They review and prioritize client and court referrals and requests; draft, edit, issue and serve high-quality documents for various legal actions; communicate clearly and effectively with a diverse group of coworkers, clients, opposing counsel and court personnel; approve payments for services; correctly process and apply incoming payments; investigate, research and solve issues, and assist with improvements in technology and office automation.

Salary Information
Salary for the Paralegal position (schedule-range 07-04) is $54,080 to $69,388 annually ($26.00 to $33.36 hourly), or up to the appointment maximum at the time of appointment, depending on qualifications, plus excellent benefits. A twelve-month probationary period is required.

The Department of Revenue will conduct criminal background, tax compliance checks and fingerprint checks on candidates prior to offer of hire.
Applicants must be eligible to work in the United States. The Department of Revenue does not sponsor work or student visas, either at time of hire or at any later time. DOR participates in E-Verify and will provide the federal government with Form I-9 information for all new employees to confirm authorization to work in the U.S.
Qualifications
Minimum-qualified candidates will have training or experience in each of the following:
1-Preparing legal documents (e.g., drafting pleadings, briefs, gathering records, organizing data, etc.).
2-Providing administrative support in a legal office setting (e.g., writing letters/correspondences, database management, managing a legal calendar, data entry, etc.).
3-Proofreading documents.
Well-qualified candidates will have one (1) or more of the following (in addition to the minimum qualifications).
1-Research experience with public records, statutes, cases or other legal resources.
2-Paralegal experience in civil or administrative cases.
3-Paralegal certificate or other certificate in a legal area.
