What We’re Seeking: DATCP currently has an opening for a Records and Rules Coordinator (Records/Forms Management Spec-ADV) position with the Office of Legal Counsel.
Where We’re Located: The Prairie Oaks State Office Building is situated on Madison’s southeast side. We are only minutes away from the Beltline Highway, Interstate 90 and Highway 51 for quick access to local restaurants, retail and service locations.
Telecommuting Option: This position may have the ability to telecommute. An approved telecommuting agreement is required before an employee may telecommute. Approved telecommuting locations must be within Wisconsin.

Position Summary
This position serves as the agency technical expert and provides department-wide support as the Advanced Management Specialist for both records retention and open records requests, as well as coordination of the agency’s administrative rules processes. This position also serves as the Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection’s Board coordinator. The position serves as a primary point of contact for the agency for records, rules, and Board related issues, and holds responsibility for identification and proposed resolution of related identified issues as they emerge. This work requires a high degree of professionalism, efficiency, independence, and accuracy, ensuring compliance with Wisconsin's Public Records Law, maintaining accurate records, and supporting related Office of Legal Counsel operations within the agency.
Records and Rules Coordinator Position Description
Salary Information
The classification of this position is Records/Forms Management Spec-Adv., which is in schedule-range 07-03 with a starting pay of $34.50 per hour up to $38.50 per hour, commensurate with experience. Pay on appointment may vary according to the applicable pay transaction provisions of the compensation plan. Pay for current State employees will be set in accordance with the State Compensation Plan and Wisconsin Administrative Code. This position is not represented by a collective bargaining unit. A 12-month probationary period is required.
Job Details
DATCP does not sponsor work visas. Any appointment made will be contingent on the selected applicant being able to provide documentation of eligibility to work in the United States.
A criminal background check will be performed on the selected applicant prior to an offer of employment.
Possession of a valid driver's license, or the ability to provide one’s own transportation for work purposes, is required.
Occasional travel, including overnight, will be required.
Candidate must have a current appointment as a Wisconsin Notary Public; OR the eligibility to be appointed as a Wisconsin Notary Public within six months of employment. Qualifications
Minimally qualified candidates will have each of the following:
- Experience interpreting and applying state or federal open records and open meeting laws and policies.
- Experience interpreting and applying administrative rulemaking processes.
- Experience communicating with internal and external stakeholders through written and verbal methods to relay necessary updates related to a project, policy, or procedure.
- Experience implementing and tracking projects and providing necessary updates to relevant stakeholders.
In addition, highly qualified candidates will have one or more of the following:
- Experience providing administrative support to executive offices or boards.
- Experience delivering complex information (training, policy and procedure application, stakeholder impact, etc) on any of the following topics: open meetings, public records, record retention, or rule promulgation.
- Professional experience in a legal or government setting providing administrative support to a legal team, handling confidential information, and/or conducting legal or policy work.
- Experience developing and implementing standard operating procedures.
