As an Accounting & Finance Coordinator for Ste. Michelle Wine Estates (SMWE), you will be responsible for the accurate and authorized recording of transactions in the general ledger, ensuring timely and precise accounting in compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). Responsibilities encompass daily financial operations and general support for the finance and operations teams. Duties include analyzing and reconciling transactional data, preparing journal entries, creating useful schedules and reports, and adhering to internal controls. During and following the month-end close, you will collaborates cross-functionally to ensure that activities are accurately captured in our accounting systems. Additionally, the role involves administering compliance, managing excise tax reporting, and overseeing various operations projects. This role is located in Newberg, Oregon.
Job Responsibilities:
Accounting Functions
- Ensure accurate transaction accounting within the enterprise resource planning system (ERP), new vendor setup, and the purchasing workflow.
- Support account reconciliations and prepare journal entries as part of the regular month-end close.
- Support various shared accounting functions, including cost accounting, tax, fixed assets (CAPEX), accounts payable, and accounts receivable.
- Ensure timely and accurate support for third-party audits, lender field exams, and borrowing base certificates with complete and accurate supporting documentation.
Financial Operations
- Complete cash and credit card reconciliation for the direct-to-consumer channels.
- Review and send monthly excise and sales tax invoices for automatic filings to shared services, submit payments.
Compliance Responsibilities
- Account contact for compliance software.
- Manage Ship Compliance software records; keeping database updated with label registration, distributors, and license registration information completed by shared services.
- Track and report sample & wholesale shipments to Ship Compliance system.
Position Requirements:
- 3-5 years of progressive accounting experience in financial operations with a general knowledge of GAAP.
- A bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- A successful communicator with strong organization skills and a customer service focus.
- A systems background, proficient in MS Office Suite, with accounting software experience.
- Able to build rapport and effective relationships across all departments.
- Nimble, detail-oriented, and able to succeed in a fast-paced environment with accuracy.
- Curious with a willingness to go beyond the surface to find opportunities that help the company grow profitably.
- Must be able to stand or sit to work for extended time periods.
Your Compensation:
$26 - $30 per hour DOE
