Erath is seeking two enthusiastic, goal-oriented people to join our team as a Hospitality & Sales Associate. Our Tasting Room team is essential in creating favorable impressions of Erath in our urban tasting room located in Portland's historic Pearl District. Through interactions with guests in the tasting room and at private and public events, the role requires a strong desire to develop and share knowledge of fine wines and winemaking. This will be a seasonal position that may continue through the end of 2025. Weekend and evening availability is required with flexibility to work at our REX HILL Winery in Newberg, Oregon
Job Responsibilities Include:
Brand Experience
- Welcome all guests in a professional and cheerful manner.
- Manage individual and group tastings, educating guests on the wines and winemaking process.
- Present tastings and conduct guest interactions.
Tasting Room Operations
- Participate in daily operations of tasting spaces; assist as needed or assigned with set-up, stocking of supplies, etc.
- Maintain general appearance of tasting spaces to provide a brand-appropriate guest experience.
- Participate in ongoing sales and wine education to ensure knowledge and skills are appropriately honed.
Communication
- Review daily appointment schedule to understand the needs of the tasting room.
- Work in cooperation with the hospitality all staff to achieve service and sales goals.
- Provide regular updates to Tasting Room Manager, noting any guest compliments or dissatisfaction.
Position Requirements:
- A high level of curiosity and a desire to develop and share knowledge of fine wines and the winemaking process.
- Poised under pressure, thrives in a fast-paced environment, energetic, enthusiastic team player, with a healthy dose of good humor.
- Presence of mind, an eye for details, and the ability to tailor compelling communication to a varied audience.
- Cares deeply about the customer experience and understands how to combine service with sales skills to achieve goals.
- High school diploma or equivalent minimum requirement; associate's degree preferred.
- Prior experience in hospitality or hosting, Point of Sale (POS) systems preferred, able to stand for extended periods of time, and lift, carry and rotate 45 lbs. on a regular basis.
- Bilingual English & Spanish speaker preferred.
- Schedule flexibility needed for weekend, holiday and evening shifts.
- Must be a minimum of 21 years of age, hold a valid OLCC card, and have reliable transportation for offsite events.
Your Compensation:
- $17 per hour tips & commissions
