Position Overview
The Quality Manager provides overall technical direction to the site Quality Team for all quality activities including product validation, process development, measurement system analysis, and problem-solving activities. This individual will drive quality improvements, ensure company standards are adhered to, and support organizational goals for achieving zero defect performance. This individual will foster cross functional collaboration with internal teams, (purchasing, engineering, operations, sales, customer service) and customers to implement process improvements and/or corrective actions.

Essential Job Functions
- Lead the Quality organization at their site to ensure compliance to policies and standards in support of production and customer satisfaction.
- Own, maintain, and ensure compliance to the Quality Management System (QMS) at the site in accordance with AS9100.
- Partner with cross-functional business unit teams to identify key quality related objectives and solve product and process quality issues.
- Communicate directly with customers about non-conformance, product, and process quality related issues and questions.
- Drive achievement of the Quality Key Performance Indicators to meet the site and business unit objectives.
- Regularly monitor quality data to identify systemic corrective actions through product and process improvements.
- Develop tracking tools to quantify product conformance and trends based on established metrics including First Pass Yield, Defect Rate, and Cost of Quality.
- Generate nonconformance and trend analysis reports for management and customers. (internal and external).
- Perform process and product analysis on nonconforming material to ensure that they are meeting established metrics.
- Support the local Quality team to deliver operational efficiency.
- Disposition of nonconforming materials.
- Conduct in-process and first article inspections per plan and schedule.
- Define and implement standard work.
- Facilitate cross functional review and development with Design Engineering to define key characteristics to ensure robust inspection program.
- Validate and evaluate tools, processes, equipment, and work instructions used on production lines.
- Ensure internal audits are successfully completed at defined intervals.
- Conducts training with Quality Control inspectors on inspection processes and concepts.
- Specify new inspection and testing equipment.
Candidate Requirements & Preferred Experience
- Bachelor’s degree required; in a technical discipline (Engineering, Quality, Mathematics, etc.) and/or applicable equivalent experience in the aerospace and defense industry.
- 2 years minimum Quality or Engineering leadership experience in a manufacturing organization.
- Supplier quality management experience preferred.
- ISO9001 or AS9100 knowledge and demonstrated QMS system compliance required, understanding of AS9145, AS9102, and AS9110 preferred.
- Ability to train and/or conduct audits, both internal and at proposed suppliers.
- Expert in root cause corrective action tools (8D, RCCA, 5 Whys, DMAIC, etc.)
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing methodologies.
- Knowledgeable in applications of APQP elements, especially FMEAs and Control Plans.
- Highly proficient in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Six Sigma training preferred.
- Strong background in machining operations preferred.
