Position Summary |
The Learning and Development Specialist is responsible for designing, developing, and facilitating training programs that enhance employee skills, performance, and career growth by leveraging instructional design expertise, technical acumen, and strong communication skills. This role involves collaborating with subject matter experts to create instructional materials, delivering engaging training sessions, and evaluating the effectiveness of training initiatives. The Learning and Development Specialist will also support the overall strategy of the Learning and Development (L&D) department by identifying training needs and providing innovative learning solutions. |

Key Responsibilities |
1. Assist with implementing a training strategy and programs for roles across the organization. 2. Support the development and coordination of learning activities and programs across all job functions. 3. Collaborate with subject matter experts to design and develop training programs that are engaging and effective. Includes auditing and maintaining position-specific training checklists. 4. Partner with the HR team to ensure alignment between talent development initiatives and overall business strategy. 5. Design and implement career development plans and pathways for employees at all levels. 6. Evaluate the effectiveness of training programs through surveys, feedback, performance metrics, and annual audits. 7. Oversee the new hire mentor program, including designing and delivering training to support mentors in their role. 8. Develop and deliver comprehensive train-the-trainer programs to prepare facilitators for effective knowledge transfer. 9. Manage and maintain training courses within the Learning Management System (LMS), ensuring accurate input and providing technical support to users as needed. 10. Assist with developing Subject Matter Experts (SME’s). 11. Manage job shadowing and internship programs with area high schools. 12. Assist with conducting Steffes tours. 13. Maintain a positive work atmosphere by acting and communicating in collaborative manner with customers, suppliers, co-workers, and management. 14. Helps company meet its Strategic, Quality and Safety objectives 15. Administrative duties include, but are not limited to tracking licenses and certifications, training compliance monitoring, scheduling training, onboarding tasks and setting up physical and virtual classrooms. 16. Other duties as assigned. |

Job Requirements/Qualifications |
· Bachelor’s degree in Learning & Development, Business, Management, Education, or related field; or Associate’s Degree with 5 or more years of related experience. · Minimum of 3 years of experience in Learning and Development, training, or instructional design. · Proven track record of designing and delivering effective training programs. · Strong understanding of adult learning principles and instructional design methodologies. · Proficiency in e-learning authoring tools and learning management systems. · Strong project management and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines with limited supervision. · Strong analytical skills for evaluating training program effectiveness. · Experience in communicating with all levels of the organization, both verbally and in writing · Experience training and coaching others. · Intermediate MS Word; intermediate MS Excel; Advanced MS PowerPoint; Advanced MS Outlook · Some travel to our other Steffes facilities may be necessary according to business needs. |
Functional & Cognitive Requirements of Position · This position requires walking, sitting or standing to a significant degree · Must have the ability to lift 50 pounds from floor to waist, carry 50 pounds, and push and/or pull up to 20 pounds · Must have the ability to climb ladders and/or stairs · Stooping, crouching, kneeling and bending · Handling, feeling, and gripping would be required for some activities · This role may be subject to internal and external environmental conditions. · Learn new tasks, remember processes, maintain focus, complete tasks independently, make timely decisions in the context of a workflow, ability to communicate with visitors, ability to complete tasks in situations that have a speed or productivity quota. |
