Summary The responsibility of a transcriptionist is to transcribe and edit all notes dictated on the Digital Dictation System in an acceptable, pre-determined timely manner, thus making it available in the patient's medical record quickly, helping to ensure quality care. Responsibilities Transcribe / edit inpatient history and physicals, operative reports, discharge summaries, consultation notes, Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery office operative notes, and Gastroenterology notes, and Ambulatory clinic notes utilizing dictation system. Achieves department productivity standards Achieves department Quality standards Requirements Education and Work Experience : Must possess a high school diploma or GED Must possess 2 years experience transcribing in acute care setting. Radiology experience is a plus. Must be experienced in operation of standard web-based PC transcription software / hardware. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities : Microsoft Word, Power Point, Excel Microsoft Outlook Epic Must be able to work independently and possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action. Must possess the ability to effectively communicate and deal tactfully with other personnel, visitors, patients, physicians, customers, and the general public. Must be flexible, have personal integrity, and the ability to function effectively as a team with other employees. Must be able to follow written and oral instructions. Other Requirements : Must possess excellent medical terminology, anatomy and grammar skills. Must be organized and efficient in use of typing time. Volunteer for rotating Holiday beeper coverage. Must be able to accurately type 150 lines per hour both editing voice recognition and straight transcribing. Must be able to type accurately.
