Summary: The Compensation and Benefits Specialist is responsible for the administration of employee, advanced practice provider (APP), and physician compensation models, benefit plans, and leaves of absence administration.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Leads the administration of compensation programs, including job evaluation, job descriptions, salary benchmarking, budgeting, salary adjustments, incentive plans, and performance-based rewards.
- Works with business leaders to ensure internal equity and external competitiveness of compensation structures.
- Serves as the backup Payroll Administrator for bi-weekly processing schedule.
- Partners closely with Revenue Cycle and Finance department on wRVU reports and provider professional billing charges to calculate APP and physician compensation.
- Leads the day-to-day administration of company benefit plans including health, dental, vision, life, disability, flexible spending accounts, PTO, and retirement plan.
- Partners with Finance and Payroll on the administration of the 401(k) plan; including the annual audit and 5500 filing.
- Collaborates with Payroll on processing benefit changes due to new hire enrollments, qualifying life events, status changes, and separation of employment.
- Coordinates and drives the annual open enrollment process.
- Ensures organization and benefit plans are compliant with HIPAA, ACA, COBRA, and ERISA regulations, including reporting and material distribution requirements.
- Coordinates leave of absence process from employee notification/request to return-to-work date adhering to federal, state, and local statutes, including FMLA, Minnesota Earned Sick and Safe Time (MN ESST), and Minnesota Paid Family Medical Leave (MPFML), etc.
- Advises employees, physicians, and managers on the interaction of leave laws with paid time off, vacation, disability, and other benefits.
- Maintains knowledge of economic trends, labor market, and other factors to ensure organization provides competitive and reasonable benefits and compensation scale structures.

Requirements:
- Associate degree required, Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience administering compensation plans, benefit programs, and leave administration, preferably in a healthcare setting.
- Strong background in Human Resources and Finance functions.
- Thorough working knowledge of federal, Minnesota State, and local leave laws, as well as COBRA, HIPAA, ACA, and ERISA requirements.
- Working knowledge of physician and provider production-based compensation models strongly preferred
